My pleasure. Let's views positively. Those event planners, both in China and Australia had tried their best to present a perfect show. They had no intentions to 'cheat' the public. As I understand that most ourdoor events do the same way in the world, especially on such occasion as Olympics, just for safe, or for better sound effect, or just perfection.

Thank you so much for you post! That is very helpful.
Now I know exactly which 55 seconds of the opening ceremony was fake.

Now people can stop thinking ALL the fireworks were fake, or too big, too nice, too creative to be real.

So I think your last two post should shut those petty critics up.

"Sydney's were genuine, that's why they were better."

Probably you have heard the news that there was fake instrument playing in the 2000 Sydney opening ceremony. Please search the web for related news. After that, you surely change your point of view. Then you will probably say:
"Sydney's were not genuine, that's why they ..."

Re:Beijing closing ceremony fireworks Reply to this message
Let me try to anser your question. What I understand is as follows. Because this was the 29th Games. They setup 29 spots to shot fireworks. These spots are xx km apart, one after another, beginning from outside Beijing to the Bird Nest where the opening ceremony was held. Probably because there was a fly-banned zone during the ceremony or because other technical factors they could not record the fireworks in sequence lively. So they decided to prerecorded the scenes and put them together by computer to show the fireworks being in sequence, telling people the 29 Games coming to Beijing. The 'faked' scenes lasted only 55 seconds. The rest fireworks are all shot on spot (Bird Nest). The fireworks other than in Bird Nest, so called faked, were also shot at that time but the broadcast of that part was the prerecorded one (55 seconds). I hope this will help you to figure out what happened that night.

Yes, well we can debate this all day I see...

But you can't avoid the fact about using the f-bomb, it is against the forum rules (this is what I was referring to tone it down).

Back on topic though, the fireworks were lovely. ;-D

I guess that was the better bit you were boasting about.

Have whatever views you want but just don't do it in an offensive matter ok.

Re:Beijing closing ceremony fireworks Reply to this message
My understanding is that it was the shots from the helicopter as they flew through the giant footprints from the forbidden city to the birds nest. You know, big dangerous fireworks, can't exactly fly near when they're going off...

Re:Beijing closing ceremony fireworks Reply to this message
So Sledge's problem is just that they put some fake fireworks on tv?

I would have a problem if they created fake fireworks that were never in existence, but as far as I know any CGI images were replicates of the real thing.

We don't know exactly which portions were fake. I would like to know which scene was fake.
From what I know, I think it was only the tall huge massive ones that could not be aired.

If I had to choose not being able to watch the fireworks or to be able to watch a replicate version I would still settle to be able to watch a replicate version, to be able to see what those that were here was able to enjoy, to be able to see the design and creativity of the fireworks.
