Isay let them pick Sunny Dill for the bloos and Matt Dunning as well and whoever else they want.( Except Andrew Symonds ) That will only make our victory this year all the more sweeter, when they have one less excuse as to why the mighty Qlanders kicked their pathetic @r$e$ again ...

Re:kiwis in origin Reply to this message
Birth certificates are not considered when picking ANY state or national sides - in ANY sport.

Andrew Symonds doesn't qualify as a QLDer or an Aussie under this system. Matt Dunning couldn't be a Warratah or a Wallaby, I'm sure there are many in the NRL who were born overseas but moved here very early on.

I have a friend who was born in Dublin, his parents (both Aussies) were over there for a year or so on a working holiday. would it be fair to make him play sport for Ireland, a country he happened to be born in but hold no real meaning for him what so ever?

It should be a players choice. If he was born in NZ, played juniors in NSW and moved to QLD at 15 then he should announce his allegence to ONE of these sides. As long as you have a connection to the place, you should have the chance to represent it - but you should NEVER be allowed to switch.

Re:kiwis in origin Reply to this message
I don't understand why the don't call it North vs South and draw a line around the world at the Tweed River.

Qld can have everything above that (Poms, French, Northern Territory, top of WA, Papua New Guinea, Fiji and the great league nations of Egypt, Malaysia & Poland.

NSW can have Sth Africa, NZ, the hard hitting Madagascar, Lesotho and the talented Antarctic Eskimos and whoever else south of the river.

Heck, Qld have already had Inglis (from Northern NSW), Thornie (an All Black) and Adrian Lam (the captain of the Papua New Guinean Kumuls) so why get sentimental about this cr@p now?

What makes SBW playing for NSW worse than a Kiwi, a Kumul and a potential c o ckroach playing for Qld? Who cares?

Tradition? That got sold out a LONGGGG time ago lads.

Re:kiwis in origin Reply to this message
no he shouldnt. He forfeited the right to play SOO when he chose to play for NZ. Just like all the other kiwi's.

This game is quickly losing all tradition it ever had. Local grounds losing out to A//NZ etc, kiwis wanting to play origin, no loyalty, banning shoulder charges... whats next? U wanan start playing with a round ball?

toni carroll has played for Queensland and Test footy for nz and then played for australia.
Just let Sonny Bill play, it may be the only way we will beat them this year.

SBW has played rep football for N.S.W. junior teams, so he should be allowed to play for the seniors.

Re:kiwis in origin Reply to this message
NOT BROKEN YET!! PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE!
If anyone also actually listened to the comments made on the footy show, then sooner or later there will be so many Kiwis Islanders etc in the NFL that they're going to find it hard pressed to pick a whole squad from first grade NSW or QLD players. They weren't saying it will happen next year or the year after but it will happen and it will need addressing. It is true that us Pommies now have a 5hit Soccer team, why? because our Soccer league has been flooded with European and other World Players which meant the majority of our youth couldn't evolve into Premiership players playing top flight Soccer. It MAY become the same here with NFL. Your top 16 will become saturated with foreign players preventing your own youth players to progress. If you don't agree thats up to you. The State of Origin MAY have to evolve or fold.
Its all just conjecture.
If you don't want it then just don't let them play in the NFL then!!!!

Re:kiwis in origin Reply to this message
If your birth certificate reads you were born in Australia then that is the country you play for and that applies to all other countries, including New Zealand

Probably the only decent fact i have seen on here lol i agree with you mate.

Why can't people actually read what people have written and inwardly digest before the purple mist fogs their vision and they start ranting on about a load of balls.
I gave three ideas that i have seen floating about the web, not my original concepts. Just pick one like idea (3) not let them play at all, and post reply. Don't 5lag off all the other ideas, there just there as options not definate eventualities.

If you make a team of Islander (not NZers) they would not be 2nd tier.

I did state the All Blacks for Thorn. NRL players in my opinion should only be able to help 2nd tier Countries not Australia Great Britain or New Zealand.

Re:kiwis in origin Reply to this message
making it a 3-way series between qld nsw and nz destroys the entire concept of origin football.

if you dont understand what i mea then you have no business arguing this point
