| Anywhere but the MCG. The arena has zero atmosphere for either rugby or soccer in a big oval arena. Its designed for AFL and cricket |

| I feel sorry for Bligh's husband. Apparently he misses out a fair bit in the bedroom. not surprised though, his missus would be exhausted from *** king everyone else in QLD. |

| I agree, but a GF needs that sort of capacity - so Brisbane can forget it and Blight can stop the grandstanding and diverting of attention from what she's doing to the state! |

80000 seat stadiums are a waste of money. They would fill 1-2 per year.
The overheads to run these places are phenomenal, and then the Govt has to look at increasing the public transport to cater for 80000 crowds as well. Suncorp struggles with 50000 - 80 000 is a nightmare. |

If they upgrade Suncorp to a 90,000 seater, I may think it is a good idea. But that won't happen and I think Sydney should remain the place for the GF, just as the AFL GF should never leave Melbourne.
Oh, and SE Qld doesn't have an Indy race anymore, it is now just a V8 race.
If QLD wants to prove that it can turn out to support Rugby League, they should get their $$$ out and fund a team in Ipswich and a side in Rocky - at least with 5 teams in QLD it will be a better indicator of the 'support' from the locals.
Sydney may get 5hit crowds, but they have about 5 games a weekend in Sydney and surrounding areas.
When it comes to Origin and tests they draw healthy crowds, QLD can't compete due to stadium size, but they theory that they'd fill 80,000+ of they had the chance is merely that, a theory.
If the GF was in Brissie it would make it possible for me to go, but I'd still hate to see it relocate! |

Geez you're a goose Pete.
Why the hell are people even considering this cr@p.
How is what QLD are willing to spend, comparable to what NSW have been paying while unopposed? |

A GF in Brissy with a week on the GC at dreamworld,Sea world,Tab worls and Pub world sounds a pretty good family holiday in late September..
Better than travelling to Sydney.. |

Apart from the Gold Coast Indy Car race the Banana benders have nothing..
A GF in Brisbane would bring the tourist dollars in and the fee paid to the NRL would be made back many times over. |

Source the comment genius. Some people will just claim anything to support their trolling. |

NFS, you're wrong, if it was about capacity they'd play the GF at the Rungrado May Day Stadium in North Korea.
The fact that Melbourne can only get 27K to a grand final qualifier doesn't bode well for getting 80K+ to a grand final down there.
FR is right though, if those figures are accurate then it's a no-contest, the grand final should go north. Money talks |

Its got nothing to do with crowd numbers at the GF.
NSW Govt pays Gallop half a mill to hold it.QLD Govt has offered 10 times that figure.
Current contract with NSW Govt expires in 2011.
This isnt about crowd because even if was in Hobart the TV ratings are the only crowd figure they worry about anyway.. |

| Based on that theory, the G/F will be moving to the MCG which has a greater capacity. Its not all about numbers in the crowd. Its about profit. If it was about numbers in the crowd, roosters and souths would have been dead and buried a long long time ago. |

If they can get 80,000 at "Lang Park", then go for it I say.
Agreed mon. Qlders being Qlders will tell you they had 80,000 when there were 50,000 so they will keep trying. |

| Not sure why people in Sydney believe it is their grand final. It is now the National Rugby League and it should go to other centres. Qld is now acknowledged by the NRL as being more supportive of Rugby league that NSW people so it should be given an opportunity to be played at the best Rugby League ground in the world, Lang Park. That should start some arguments |

Prolly about as much as if the Cowboys played the Titans in Sydney or something like that.
Statistically , chances of a NQ vs GC grand final are less than 0.4 % ( ignoring any bias due to playing prelim finals interstate, and their history of sucking in finals)
Chances of an all Sydney club GF is 37.5 %. |

| The idea would be to get out of state supporters to travel to watch and then go to the Gold Coast for a holiday. The value of travelling supporters to the local economy is overrated and I'm not sure how many would travel although supporters in Northern NSW might. Obviously the number of tickets in a small Stadium available to interstaters would be an issue as well. The Seven network is being mischievous is trying to pick the eyes out of NRL from Nine. |

Dont be silly Nye, they can purchase the GF with NSW's own gst revenue.
Pete, a few million is chicken feed. The NRL majorly rips itself off on TV rights, we are talking several hundred million here, this is an inconsequential amount of money for pissing off the largest pay TV audience, and the generators of the income. |

nyne that is why she is selling all of there assets of so she can buy a Grand Final.
Queensland is broke and once there major money earning assets have been sold off they will be in even bigger s.h.i.t.
The best we can hope for is that once they are down and out NSW can extend there border further into QLD as that will be the only way QLD will make money. |

| Queensland has a small stadium and no one in Victoria cares about League so it will stay in the Rugby League heartland of NSW where it belongs. |
