I wouldn't say Ray Hadley knows sweet fark all.

I tolerate his arrogance on Saturdays and Sundays listening to the continuous call team on 2GB, but that is only because Brohman and Blocker give me a laugh.

Can't compare the knowledge of Hadley to Gould though.

Rugby League is in Gould's blood.

I agree Sushi. Gould is arrogant, but knows his stuff - Ray Hadley, on the other hand, is arrogant and knows Sweet FA!

<<I think Gould is pushing to become a selector.>>

Head of selectors would be the perfect position for Gould!

doc,

before, when I heard him on the radio or saw him on the television, I would ignore him and "switch off" because of his arrogant demeanor. Now I listen with interest with what he has to say.

Might be going too far to say, but IMO Gould would not make a bad CEO. He appreciates the modern game, however he still embraces the game at grass roots level. A very good balance IMO.

I agree with Seek
Gould wont return to coaching SOO and risk his record while the Qld team is so strong.
Gould's ego knows no limits, and even after 4 losses in a row, I dont think the NZSW are that desperate to go back to him as coach
I think Gould is pushing to become a selector.

Love the guy or hate the guy, his knowledge of the game is second to none.

Personally I don't like him as a person, but as far as rugby league is concerned he oozes with common sense, and his passion for the game is up there with the best.

Gould may come back to coach but it will be on his terms as he says. His terms will be Qld must be weakened by the retirements of Petero, Locky and Price knowing full well there are no 5 star prospects on the way up to replace them. Given that's about 2 years away NSW will have Jennings, Hayne, both Morris 's, Lawrence, Idris,a selection of halves all ready to match the test level backline of Qld.
Yes I can see Gould making a coaching comeback in around 2012.

Former NSW coach Phil Gould has refused to rule out a return to the Origin arena, but claims drastic changes would need to be made at the administrative level for him to again take the reins.

Craig Bellamy's future as NSW coach is under intense scrutiny after the Blues lost their record fourth series in a row with a 24-14 loss to Queensland at ANZ Stadium on Wednesday.

Bellamy has been in charge of the last two series losses, with no NSW coach in the history of Origin football having been retained after back-to-back defeats.

Speaking on the Nine Network's The Footy Show, Gould - the most successful NSW coach with six series wins from eight attempts - said there was no way he could return under the current NSWRL regime.

Gould claimed NSW had to completely review the way they approached Origin football, and he said the media scrutiny players were forced to now endure had taken the fun out of the game.

But he refused to slam the door completely shut on a Blues return.

"There would have to be a massive change where I could see a circumstance where I would want to coach again," Gould said.

"I'm not saying I wouldn't, I just can't see those things happening.

"Because I can't see them happening, I can't see myself coaching." Gould's main gripe seemed to be aimed at certain sections of the ARL and NSWRL management.

"I don't think I can work for the ARL or NSW Rugby League in their current state," he said.

"I fought for them during the Super League war and I'm very disappointed with what they've done since ... I think they've messed it up a lot.
