"Unprecedented fourth in a row'
Qld won 80,81,82,83,84
Just the c0(kroaches were too arrogant to return for more punishment in 80 and 81 that saved them further embarrassment |

| Not sure who smeg is, but you would bench O'Donnell? He's been your best forward in both games. |

Chucker, IMO, once they decided to go with Campo/Wallace in the halves, that is the combo they should've had for at least the first 2 games, but ideally all 3.
I think Mullen is a bloke who should be considered, but the constant rotation seems to be similar to the Aussie cricket spin selections - it saps the confidence of everyone to the point where nobody can perform! |

The choice of Barrett was a huge mistake.
He is old, hardly been setting the comp on fire at the Sharks and been too inconsistent at SOO level previously.
NZSW had to play Soward during game 2 when the series was alive, and in front of the home crowd.
Finch and Anasta won NZSW the SOO game 1 2006 , and they have now lost 8 of the next 10 matches with basically a different halves combination every match. |

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the NSW selectors say, before game 1, that they were picking a side for the future - the kids would be given time to settle into origin etc?
So, why are they chopping and changing the side? (And bringing in players like Barrett?)
The selectors, coach and players all need to be on the same page. |

Gus did say that until and unless the is a major shack up with the selctors he is not interested.
It is clear to me that GUS can do the job but has had a major falling out with the idiots above and GUS still has the burning passion of desire to defeat QLD. However until the NSW SOO officials are changed we will continue to see onesided affairs. That in itself saddens me as a great rivalry between states is slowly fading away.
NSW has the players and the coach to win the matches but the powers to be are ruining it for them. |

They should just copy the QLD system. Get a passionate ex-player as head coach - someone like Steve Mortimer. The have a more cerebral approach as the assistant - if Gus could swallow his pride, he'd be perfect, but there are a few who could fill this role.
Sack the selectors, pick a team of triers and THEN LET THEM PLAY WITHOUT CHANGING THE TEAM EVERY 5 MINUTES. |

I have a sneaky suspicion that the Blues will go for an ex Origin star in 2010, and someone not coaching an NRL club
Most likely Freddy Fittler after he gets booted end of 09. |

Club coaches shouldn't be origin coaches, IMO. Bennett didn't have a great origin record, Mal does (but had an awful club record!).
Bellyache has a brilliant club record, but his style doesn't translate to origin - it's too regimented. You can't gel a side to play a set way after just a week of training.
You need someone to yell and scream and put some passion into the side - Gus would be perfect. He doesn't want to, so I have no idea who there is. |

will Craig BlameEverybodybutMe still get the gig as NZSW coach in 2010? The coach must take some responsibility for the performance of the team
Graham Murray got shafted for much the same result.
And if Joey Johns has been coaching Peter Wallace, then he should be barred from going within 100km of the next Blues camp. He was playing well until the 1st origin camp |

I have to admit that the NSW SOO selectors appear to be placing a bandaid on a broken leg again. The team doesn't win or perform to the selectors expectations so it must be the coach, certain players or both. But never the selectors getting it WRONG.
GUS GOULD the most successful NSW Blues coach should have some sort of a sparrow phart of an idea of what an origin team requires in combinations of players to win games.
But as a QLDR I am happy that the NSW selectors are so pigheaded, arrogant, ignorant and selffish. Keep up the great work NSW selectors. |

| Barrett must be there for his ability to reduce the numbers of the QLD team. If Inglis is dynamic in attack again then barrett will simply try and take his head off again. Its simple. They need a thug to illegally maim someone . They know he wont get sent off, and the blooze will once again have more plyers . Next time he should also do it it to Falou, Thurston , Slater etc . He wont be sent off and eventually they must win. |

My money says if we had Stewart, we'd still be down 2-0 and people would be calling for Gidley to be in the starting line-up.
Thurston and Lockyer are defensive maestros compared to Soward and Kimmorley. Attack would improve a lot with them there; defense, not so much. You might be able to hide one of them in the line, not sure about both.
I think Hayne said he prefers fullback. Jennings is a centre. |

I think you'll find that Hayne has played all from 1 to 6. And I want him closer to the ball. Jennings has the form and confidence to do what many can't.
Thurston and Lockyer aren't massive halves mate. Give O'Donnell and Lewis the job of inside man or minder for both of them and they'll be fine. They go alright at club level don't they?
And yes I do worry about Gidley's number because it should be 00. We tried that Gidley thing. No thanks, not again. Perfect world we'd have Stewart but whoopsie, he's an idiot. |

| You've got 4 left-side players in the three-quarters, a winger who prefers fullback playing in the centres, a centre playing on the wing, two midgets in the halves, and you're worried about the number Kurt Gidley wears on his back? |

| And please don't move Gids to 7. He doesn't play 7 for Newcastle and there's a reason why. He is not consistent enough for the role. Fact is fact is fact. Please don't do that. |
