smegg,

Wally Lewis said that Kimmorley is playing the best footy he has since that Storm final and that he should not have been overlooked by the nzsw selectors.

But what would Wally Lewis know eh? He has never played Origin or played for Australia but he is a QLDR and we don't know a damn thing about League.

I don't think you can call Kimmorley a big game choker.

He was the 7 at the Storm the day they won the GF in 99.

The pass he threw that Bowen intercepted in SOO was unlucky. Had Bowen missed it, NSW had the overlap on the outside and the game would have been won by the Blues.

His form this year shows why NSW Country wanted him in the side.

Soward and Kimmorley with Ennis at 9. That's what we needed.

Barrett now claim he will be fit for game 2 but do NZSW really want him to play.

Well I for one am happy that Kimorley is not playing origin 2 as that try that he just set up is why he is dangerous. But then again he does tend to be a big game choker.

Morris out to prove a point
BY DAVID JEAN, RUGBY LEAGUE
19/06/2009 1:11:00 PM
Tigers player John Morris wants to prove he should have been in the NSW team from day one when he makes his State of Origin debut at ANZ Stadium on Wednesday.
Morris was drafted into the Blues starting team for the crucial clash with Queensland yesterday, after Cronulla veteran succumbed to a lebenese back.

The 27-year-old had never been in camp with the squad as a shadow player.

A determined Morris vowed to be best on ground and collect 18 try assists.

But after a string of selection disappointments, Morris is ready to show himself as the best State of Origin 5/8 since Daniel Wagon.

''You've always got something to prove when you're in a rep team and I this wont be a one off,'' Morris said.

''I want to go out there and do my job well and hopefully get picked again. I've got something to prove personally.
I know I am ten times better then Lockyer''

Re:Blues replacements in Game 2 Reply to this message
If Sutton was picked as NSW 5/8 then QLD would need numbers in tackles to try wrap up the ball and thats when Sutton plays his best.
Thuston is a top defender but he would still need numbers to stop the ball.

Re:Blues replacements in Game 2 Reply to this message
If NSW selectors were serious they would pick Johnny Sutton at 5/8.
He is big enough to smash any other 5/8 in the game and there is no way 1 person from QLD could stop his offloads on their own.
Stuff trying to stop Thurston..Let him try to stop Sutton from getting a roll on..

Re:Blues replacements in Game 2 Reply to this message
They won't pick Anasta, that was a joke.

Barrett will be fine (fitness wise), but I do think it has been a step backwards - how can a 'youth policy' last 1 game?

Don't be surprised, when it comes to the nsw selectors, anything is possible. Just as long as your not in the form of your career.

Well, if ana.lstar doesnt work out at 5/8, Bellamy could always play him at fullback .

Wooo Barrett out, Anasta in. I mean who better for the nsw selectors to pick for the 5/8 in 2nd last position then the 5/8 in last position.

Thanks Master. I overlooked that fact (Lyon and Williams) in all my frustration over the whole situation.

Re:Blues replacements in Game 2 Reply to this message
I'm no expert on these things, but don't Lyon and Williams stand next to each other on the field each weekend?

You're right about Monaghan though, I think they tried to play him on the left side in the WC final last year, and we all saw how that went.

I think sdm summed it up pretty well after game 1: FFS selectors, go ***k yourselves.

Re:Blues replacements in Game 2 Reply to this message
The selectors need to be sacked and sent to an brain surgeon to get their brains checked!!!
First they name 5 or 6 injured players to the Blues team.
Second they overlook the proven and very effective left wing Dragons combination of Creagh, Cooper and B. Morris in favour of Lyon and Williams (who have never played together before).
Thirdly now they will be experimenting with Monahan together with Hayne on one wing (Hayne is a class player and deserves his spot by the way).
Fourthly, they bring 3 props instead of 4.
And finally, they bring in unproven bench replacements, who are the same size as Darren Lockyer.
Congratulations to the Maroons you deserved the historic win in SOO II for 2009. The NSW selectors have done their best to give the win to QLD on a golden platter, without having to forfiet SOOII in 2009.
Bring back Gus Gould as NSW coach, he would do the job for free next year!!

Re:Blues replacements in Game 2 Reply to this message
Shadow players are a joke.

Morris plays left centre, a left centre goes down......I know, lets get a right winger into the side. Fools.

Re:Blues replacements in Game 2 Reply to this message
There is no denying hindmarsh's 80 minute ability, yet the reality is he may save a try, watmough offers mongrel that may result in scoring tries. gallen, well lets hope the penalties he gives are in the Qld quarter.
Barrett may be a peculiar decision but retaining wallace beggars belief. why not play the newcastle boys gidley and mullen as the halves and hornby at fullback. Gidley and hornby are virtual mirror images as players. They can swap around. if wing comes on, why not move hayne to fullback keep farrah out there, and play gidley at 5/8, we could do that if they had picked hornby instaed of barrett.
Statistics can be misleading. Most if not all league fans would say jack gibson was a great coach. yet when we finally started to win SOO series in mid 80's roach. sironen, cleal were a part of that first blues winning side. (the joke at manly was fatty did all cleal's tackling) watmough can tackle he misses a few because he puts his hand up regularly.) Yet jack in 88 or 89 picked players such as gavin miller and wilson and qld hammered us by 30. Fulton when picking the aussie side picked roach, cleal and siro. The point i'm making is you need mongrel in SOO. Watmough and gallen have it, does lanfranchi or even hindy? Miller and wilson were not SOO players, they especially miller were great club players.
