Offloads from a 5/8? That's what QLD select forwards for Pete.

Sotton at 6 would have been better..
Bigger, stronger and always gets the offload away..
NSW wont stop QLD so they have to attack them.
Wallace is too easily manhandled in Origin to worry the Canetoads.

Brilliant. Not only do we have to constantly change the halves combination before each game, now we're changing it mid-game as well.

Maybe they should have picked four halfbacks on the bench; that way we could just rotate them on each time we get the ball, touch footy-style.

Why not just kick Wallace out now? Play Barrett at 7 Gidley at 6 Hayne at 1 and Morris at 2 and have a utility player on the bench instead of a sucky halfback? Your practically cutting the bench to 3 men.

Re:Blues replacements in Game 2 Reply to this message
The Daily Telegraph has learned that NSW skipper Kurt Gidley is on stand-by to move from fullback to five-eighth with Trent Barrett to call the shots at halfback should Wallace fail to fire.

Lucky to retain his spot after a quiet showing in Melbourne, Wallace will definitely start the game and be given a chance to redeem himself.

But given Queensland are just 80 minutes away from asserting unprecedented dominance at this level, coach Craig Bellamy is prepared to act to save the series.

If Wallace, 23, does not produce in the first half, Bellamy will roll the dice with Gidley and Barrett at the scrumbase.

Bellamy's contingency plan also involves moving Jarryd Hayne to Gidley's spot at fullback, with new reserve Josh Morris - rushed into the team yesterday for injured utility Craig Wing - taking the Parramatta speedster's spot on the left flank. News of the Blues' bold back-up game plan came as bookmakers last night installed them the longest-priced NSW team in history to host a game in Sydney.

Re:Blues replacements in Game 2 Reply to this message
I was referring to Farah getting smashed in the first five minutes, and not being able to play on. He goes off, Gidley to dummy half and no backs left on the bench( and Barrett with a dodgy back)
The number one choice rake/dummy half goes into a SOO with an injury cloud, and there seems to be no back up plan if the obvious happens ie the injury is worse than he or the selectors make it out to be

Re:Blues replacements in Game 2 Reply to this message
Barrett is experienced but been off the scene in recent years, Gallen has been a club captain but a hothead, and then there is Gidley, a capable club captain, but more suited as a bench player for SOO. However, he will be no1 and captain.

Re:Blues replacements in Game 2 Reply to this message
Oh and on the subject of captain, with Gids on the bench, the right person out of this lot would be Barrett. He's the only one with any experience worth noting.

But my team has Cooper in it and he would be the captain.
But as I've said, I ain't a retarded idiotic selector.

Re:Blues replacements in Game 2 Reply to this message
If it was up to me, Gidley would be on the bench for Wing.

Hayne at 1, Soward at 6, Kimmorley at 7 and Ennis at 9.

But it isn't up to me. It's up to the retards called selectors.

Re:Blues replacements in Game 2 Reply to this message
It's times like that Chucker you appreciate the talent of Craig Wing. The obvious replacement for Farah is Gidley but what if he gets injured. Morris can cover wing, centre and fullback. In fact I like what smeg suggests, Hayne at fullback, he's better than Gidley but, what about the captain, you can't have a bench warmer as skipper in a SOO game. Glad I'm not a selector.

Re:Blues replacements in Game 2 Reply to this message
Morris would cover a back, Gidley the halves, with TLL on standby. But if Farah went down, the dopes would probably do the same thing, gidley to 9, hayne to 1, morris to wing.
They would think it is too late to get Enooos.

Re:Blues replacements in Game 2 Reply to this message
Well, it seems like this is how the Blues should line up now.

Hayne
Morris
Monaghan
Lyon
Williams
Barrett
Wallace
Weyman
Farah
Kite
O'Donnell
Creagh
Gallen

Gidley
Stewart
Poore
Watmough

But they won't. They'll start with Morris on the bench and Gidley at 1, then move him into dummy half to bring Morris on and switch Hayne to 1.

The problem with that is that it defeats the purpose of your interchange dummy half completely. He's meant to come on fresh to rip it up and exploit a tiring defense.

But with Gidley starting, the Qlders will soften him up and he will be ratsh1t by the time we need him at dummy half. Qld by 30 if it stops raining. By 18 in the wet.

Got it wrong mwklad...

Qld is broke and has no AAA rating so NSW bought all there benches just to throw a couple of bucks there way. :-)

Re:Blues replacements in Game 2 Reply to this message
So we're going to finish the game with our fullback playing at hooker?

Sounds like a recipe for success.

Re:Blues replacements in Game 2 Reply to this message
I forgot to mention that your combination is very good and one that I would not like to see playing against QLD until we have won the series.

This game will be much closer and I predict a NZSW win.
