Went to school with a bunch of blokes who once won a primary school game 358 to 12...and the 12 runs came from 3 edges to fine leg for four, and they only went for four because the guy at fine leg had to lie down to stop a magpie from taking his eyes out
Another creature whose purpose on this earth is a mystery to me |

| Worse still is walking from fine leg to fine leg for 20 overs in 45 degree heat for no reason other than because your skipper is a c***...and you've just sworn off the grog for a month. |

I can understand the mental part of the game. If you are not entirely happy, it is difficult to perform - even if you want to.
I played a cricket season under a captain I hated, he was the biggest tool. That year I took 8 wickets at about 50. He left and the next 3 seasons resulted in 94 wickets at 11. It wasn't that I was trying harder it was simply that I was free to think about only cricket, not the bull5hit that was flowing from the captain.
The Knights players would've been unsettled by Smith's move, and now that he's gone they can re focus on their own performances. |

Newcastle don't tank. But it's hard to play for a bloke who doesn't want to be there. Especially when you consider some of the players had signed contracts specifically because they were under the impression Smith was going to be the coach next year.
It shows how close the competition is...if you're not 100% committed to the game, you'll get pantsed. |

Always going to happen, Storm with off field 'issues' and the Knights playing for the first time under a new coach. Writing was on the wall.
I don't know why, but it happens so often. A poorly performing club gets a new man at the helm, suddenly they string a few together.
Full credit to the Knights though, they were fantastic. Melbourne will be lamenting a few missed opportunities though. |

My old man threw up the conspiracy theory about Newcastle possibly tanking games to get rid of the coach. I thought it was ludicrous talk. It was a concept I couldn't consider.
I just couldn't see some of those blokes going there with the intent to lose. It's such a brutal game of contact that I couldn't imagine playing it to lose. That would have to hurt too much.
But after this game, you've gotta wonder don't you? 26 blot on a top 4 side after running cold for 3 weeks? Or their Assistant Coach must have one hell of a pre game speech on him. |

| Maybe I spoke too soon. Storm are storming home with 2 tries in 5 mins. Still 12 mins left and 16 points the difference. Will the Knights hold on? |

FFS what is it with NRL players and their coaches?
Seriously how can a team turn around their form in just one week and against a team like the Storm.
Knights are leading the Storm 18 - 0.
I seriously think that the team should be investigated by the NRL regarding form and how they shat on their coach. |
