| That's fair enough if they have done something dastardly to the locals. I'm a bit the same way with Newcastle for the way they treated the local comps up here for many years. There have been young kids, teenagers that have been forced to travel to Newcastle from Cessnock to train in junior squads not to get a game but not allowed to play for their Cessnock club. If they didn't go then they would be barred from playing. Many parents were put out to get their kids there, almost an hour trip each way, when both parents work. I remember when Andrew Johns was in his teens, his mother made the trip every day and balanced that with work. He was one who was keen to be there though. Since Newcastle entered the comp in 1988 I've been to one home game and that was two years ago when I was a guest of a company I deal with at work. |

| Bhilly, I've been a Saints supporter since christ was a kid and at one time I hated Souths but it's pleasing now to see them be competitive again. In fact I hated many a team but it's now limited to Manly and to a lesser degree, Newcastle. I've mellowed somewhat over the years and am happy to see RL in the big picture. |

| The footy show proposal was a classic. Big dopey Queenslander inbred goes up on stage after Fatty said there is a gentleman in the audience that wants to make an announcement. Gets his girlfriend up on stage, gets down on one knee (while getting down on one knee the chick starts to have a hissy fit). Says something incomprehensible and says "will you marry me" ? The hissy fit gathers momentum and she shrieks "You can't do that here" and runs off screaming and shrieking out of the studio. Big Palookas reply " I better call my Dad I told him to record it so Mum could watch it tomorrow." (gets cell out of pocket to call... Fatty almost breaking out in laughter " ok son, off the stage now." Vossy " Was that a gee up?" |
