| Finally, on to selections. NSW Selectors have delivered a piece of underhanded brilliance that confused even the great SDM for a while, but then it hit home. | Eligibility? It's SUPPOSED to be where you played your first senior football. That being said it varies from state to state and division to division as to what senior football is. |

| He didn't play Origin until 1998 anyway. QLD won game 1 in 1999 without him, lost game two without him then lost game 3 WITH him. Lost game 1 in '04 without him. They are the only three games he's missed (?) since his debut and we only lost two of them. Prince was playing just his second match in Origin and and had Flannery as his 5/8. |

| Interesting stat I heard this morning, haven't confirmed it so I may be wrong - but QLD have not won an Origin game without Lockyer since 1995????? Surely that can not be right. |

| Well, I think the decisions on both sides of the border have evened the competition out immensely. Prior to the naming of the squads, I thought my Blues were going to be smashed. Now I'm not so sure. Firstly, I was VERY happy that NSW didn't pick Lyon, Kite & Hindmarsh. Then I was VERY happy they picked Laffranchi, Wallace & Fitzgibbon. Great choices all of them. Not sure about Bird, would have thought Anasta had done enough and I worry about Wallace having to do all the kicks. Need another option there. Would also have preferred they pick Ennis at 9 instead of Bedsy. Would pair better with Wallace and is going great guns. As for Qld, a great back line and plenty of fire power up front. The Qld pack looks very balanced and have great hitters. Cr0cker and Johnson together add real starch. Very disappointed for Prince and not sure about the K at 6. BIG gamble. I personally would have had Thurston at 6, Prince at 7 and Hunt as your interchange back. He can slot in anywhere and how Prince can be omitted is a joke and a fantastic lifeline to NSW. SO... I have amended my score for Game 1. Previously, I thought Qld by 10-12 with Lockyer, then I thought Qld by 20 with Prince, but now I'll say Qld by 2-4 or NSW by the same. It's going to be MUCH closer now and a much better contest to watch for me as a Blues supporter. |
