| No matter which state u support , or club , ( or code i would have thought ) Jack Gibson was indeed a great man . He will not be forgotten . I dont wanna get involved in a slanging match with afl people but is it too much to show a bit of respect at an occasion like this ? Consider an afl legend like Lou Richards . Hes getting on a bit and one day we will read of his passing . ( Undeniable fact . It happens to us all ) I am not an afl fan AT ALL , but i will never run down a man like this who means a lot to other Australians . Jack Gibson deserves all our respect too. Thats all i have to say on this subject. |

| Back to the matter at hand. One of the funniest memories I have of Jack Gibson was when he was talking about the Qlders potentially firing Artie out of a cannon at Lang Park before an SOO game. He was standing there and in his usual dry-witted delivery said "I'm looking for the cannon they were going to shoot Artie out of and I can't see one with a big enough barrel." Classic. He had a good nature, an excellent record and footy brain, took the hghs and the lows with a lot more dignity than some of the coaches of today, he was an innovator and took some teams to great heights with his new ideas and ability to inspire the lads and really mentored some of his troops into some of the legends of the game. ie: Peter Sterling. You will be sadly missed Jack. RIP. The game is better now from having you as part of it. |
