| Quinn ? Yeah ! You been watching him play for Melbourne this year ?? Hasn't put a foot wrong. Great tussle between Hayne and Quinn in City/Country. Hayne is a winger, not a centre or fullback, and showed his season best form directly up against Quinn. Hayne played terrific and got over Quinn - ONCE ! |

Yeah, it's a nice thought in five years time maybe loki, but no way will they put two rookies in the halves together. Anasta and Bird will be the lock and five-eighth, not necessarily in that order though. Agree with biggie, Gidley is in the top 3 players in the comp at the moment and must start.
I thought the whole game changed when Wallace came on the field on Friday night. Bench spot? |

Loki, that is one of the more stupid things you have said.
Firstly, Braith is in the form of his life; he is outplaying any other 5/8 NSW have by a mile. Secondly, Kurt Gidley is in the top 5, if not 3, in the game atm. He needs to be on the park for 80 mins if NSW are to win. Finally, I dont think Wallace and Carney are that much better defesnively than Finch, especially with Falou, Thaiday and co running at them.
It will be Gids and Braith in the halves, and given his performance on Friday night, i'd pick Wallace, but I think they all may miss out to Robbie Farah, or Brett Kearney. |

I'd go with Wallace, but I'm a Broncos fan, so...
Although I did say they should pick him last year before he even signed with Brisbane. |

Personally, i think Fich is the weakest of them defensively. If the Qld back rowers hang out wide and feed of Thurston/Prince or whoever, theyll run at him rather than send it wider.
Qlders think anyones a weaker option anyway.
Go with Wallace, put Carney at 5/8 give Gidley the bench spot. Gidley can cover both and fullback if needed and either Wallace or Carney are interchangeable if needed.
I dont see it happening but its where id go. |

They couldn't pick Finch - could they ??
Gidley and Wallace are the only two blokes I believe could cause Qld any problems at half. If they pick Finch they are going backwards and Thurston will have a field day playing against Finch IMHO. I'll bet the Qld supporters would love NSW to pick Finch !! : ) |

| And they wouldn't want to do to Pearce what they did to Mullen last year. |

| I think they'll go with Finch mate LOL. Pearce showed he was still a little too young for rep footy. |

Interesting stuff there gents.Crikey I hope Bailey is fit. He's 80 minutes worth and he was the best prop in the comp. until injured- by a fair way.
I am going to name a few here you've mentioned I reckon are no hope given none of the blokes get injured between now and SOO 1.
Luke Rooney - Bellamy didn't want him in the city team. Hasn't been crash hot for Penrith either
Brett Delaney - ditto re Bellamy on Rooney although he's gone well for the Coast - not Origin standard for mine
Michael Ennis - only if a few hookers go down. Good player mind you and MAYBE a smokey for the bench if Gidley gets half
Craig Fitzgibbon - too many good backrowers around playing good footy
Mark Minichiello - ditto above and not Origin standard for mine
Chris Lawrence - defensively still has positional problems and I'm a Tigers fan
Joel Monaghan - not COMPLETELY out of it but I'd only use him on the wing and there are a few in front of him
PS - if they pick Brett Finch I'll give it away : ) |

<<Both my Titans and my Blues desperately need him.>>
I wouldn't say that the Titans "desperately" need him. They are going along strong without him. Definitely would make them stronger though. |

| Yeah, he's said he's up for it. And if he's back from injury, he's the 1st guy the selectors should and will pick. Hope to see Bull back real soon. Both my Titans and my Blues desperately need him. |

I have doubts Gasnier will be picked.
If he under performs in the test match as he has been all season you'd think he'd have to be overlooked. |

| Dunno how fit Cross is at the moment, but he would probably be OK come origin time, and they need a hard-head on the bench to match QLD's roughnecks. |

| actually, footnote to that: apart from Laffranchi, Ben Cross was the best forward on the field last night. Is he match fit though? |

Well if last night's match is a fair dinkum selection giude, and assuming all the Test players are picked, then this should be the side:
Stewart
Hayne
Gasnier
Monaghan
Quinn
Wallace
Gidley
Bird
Gallen
Hoffman
Mason
Buderus
Kite
Tupou
Laffranchi
Heighington
Anasta
I doubt that will be the team that is picked though. Monaghan, Wallace and Heighington will miss out and Anasta will start at 6, with Lyon in the centres and two unworthy forwards on the bench... |

Sorry, I stuffed up Ennis as 9, Buderus out and Mason as the other prop. So that's
Stewart, Hayne, Monaghan, Delaney, Rooney, Bird, Wallace,
Fitzgibbon, Ennis, Mason, Laffranchi, Minichiello, Anasta
Gidley, Topou, Hoffman, Heighington |
