When Paul Morris retires, they should put him in commentary. Got that idea after reading this story...
http://www.news.com.au/dailytelegraph/story/0,2204 9,23641456-5012691,00.html
I reckon he'd be pretty good - a bit like what Dan Crowley does on Seven's Rugby coverage. |

| What about some more Friday coverage from Seven? My idea would be Adelaide and Surfers Paradise where qualifying is a Friday affair, and Friday Practice from Phillip Island. Pleeeaaase. |

| That's what I thought might be the case. It's funny that in most other sports, the retirees take up commentary - in motorsport, they run their own team. |

| What about getting Brad Jones in as a third commentator? Neil Crompton is good, but an extra insight and an extra opinion is always welcome. The three of them (ie Matthew White as well) seemed to have a good chemistry at Eastern Creek on that rainy Saturday afternoon. |

| Improvements to TV Coverage,Show more V8 action doesn't matter if it's old footage, just show MORE. |

| They sort of half did broadcast the season launch, considering that the V8s were at Sunrise. It wasn't terribly informative for those who participate in these discussions, but it was a good way of plugging the V8s in front of a national audience. As for the proper launch, I very much doubt that it would happen any time soon - maybe in the distant future when V8s is big. |

I rather watch grass grow then watch golf for hours!
Lets get back to the topic of improvements for channel 7's coverage in 2008.
I believe channel 7 should broadcast the V8 Supercar Season launch :) |

| They stuffed up the golf because the news was 'more important' than their contract with the sport. They bought out the V8 rights and mucked it up completely. |

I never really thought about how much postage would be, to tell you the truth. Nonetheless, that's how I am trying to improve my TV coverage.
Thanks for the Bigpond tip, good luck with your 2008 coverage, and ask some of your V8 Supercar buds if they'll take me up on my offer. I need HELP, man! |

| yes Bigpond is a internet provider. It would be very expensive to send vcr tapes to the USA wouldn't it? |

| Are you talking watching on a computer? If so, I was hoping to watch it on a big screen TV, with all my friends. I can't pull in any Australian channels here. |

I feel your TV pain. I live in the USA and enjoy watching the V8s. We get the races during our Winter season, tape delayed. I just watched the three events from Pukekohe (today) in one hour time slot. :( Talk about a lack of coverage!
I am now going to hold out my hat and ask a favor: Can any of you fans help me with watching the 2008 season on a more normal basis? I would be forever very grateful. I'll supply the tapes/discs, the postage, and anything else that might be required or that we could agree on. All I need is a fellow fan down under to help me out. C'mon.... be a bud! |

7 may be an improvement in NSW but its gone backwards in SA
We are getting 8-9hrs less a week than what ten did and we are still having those stupid time zone delays |

| Yes I agree with you Dazz on the improvements from ten to 7. I still remember Kochie riding the motorbike on the day of the 2007 V8 Supercar launch. That was pretty funny to watch. |

1. More on-screen information: continuously updating ticker (a la Champ Car) or continuously updating totem pole which shows the whole field (a la F1). Lack of a racescore is a big problem with the Support coverage.
2. Track preview: we know how to count corners, so don't waste Crompton's knowledge.
3. V8 Xtra to be more like RPM
4. Please don't waste time with 'colour pieces' when you could be showing more racing/replays/highlights - this gets particularly annoying during Support Category shows where the races are edited highlights.
5. Picky, but I'm bored: the tunnel is stupid, the graphics aren't real sexy, and the opening titles are horrendous.
However (and I actually did my own calculations, weighting different factors by different amounts of points and splitting them between Seven/V8 TV and Ten), Seven is an improvement, a big improvement, in New South Wales (and I understand that they're sorting out the clashes in SA and WA), and their strong points include...
1. Increased Support Championships coverage: More racing - Gotta Love It (lol)
2. Better commentary: I'm a big Matthew White fan, and Grant Denyer is a great Pit Reporter (Just for this fact it would be sad from a viewer perspective to see him allegedly share with Bargwanna next year).
3. Qualifying coverage: We actually get it, and Seven has simply not received nearly enough praise for this.
4. Plugs: Sunrise is Australia's highest-rating program on weekday mornings, and 7News consistently outrates Nine in at least New South Wales, so our V8s are getting more exposure to the masses.
Finally, on a personal note, no HD please while I can't get access to it for at least a couple of years, because I don't want to miss out. |

there is an easy way to have v8 and football - have the v8 in 7HD and replay it after the football on 7
I hate the fact we in Adelaide (and our poor fans in Perth) have to have time zone delay - its so not fair |

| Sorry, I forgot the annoying AFL coverage! V8 Supercars and AFL does not mix. Its funny because some how I found myself in a AFL forum (I hate AFL by the way) and they were saying the same about V8 Supercars like we do with AFL. |

| Well it is interesting when they race at Wanaroo in the past years, when the coverage start Sunday afternoon people saw the reply of the saturday race and race 2 from Sunday morning, but saw race 3 live. 3rd race always started at about 2-2.30pm so it cound go live. Then when the V8 Supercars where over on TV we would stay at the track and watch the rest of the supporting races. |

Agree totally with mattack413, I don't want the sport cut short just because another sport ie AFL is about to start.
The other improvements I would like to see:
1. Less/shorter ad breaks
2. More live coverage between races 2 and 3, not just a replay of those races.
3. More driver interviews.
4. Coverage of the press conference after a round. I've watched on Bigpond, that's fantastic. |
