Rossi reminding him who is number 2 in the team maybe? -------------------- how so matt...???? I have never thought that of lorenzo, he sems as cools a cucumber to me, always praising the winner of the rces and always respectful in interviews to other competitors, he never seems to be broken to me, he always says things like "it was not our day today" and always leaves me with the impression that he will be back in full force next race and giving it his all, i stated when he first came to moto gp after the 250's that he would be the one that would give the doc a run for the title, he has the ability, the ability and the mental strength IMO, unlike many before him. I am interested to see as to how you come to this conclusion matt tho? |

| BRNO, Czech Republic (AFP) - Sp a n i s h rider Jorge Lorenzo served notice that he is hot on the heels of Yahama teammate Valentino Rossi by c l o c king the fastest time in practice Friday ahead of this weekend's Czech Republic MotoGP. The duel between world championship leader Rossi and Lorenzo, who is 25 points behind the Italian in the standings, has not lost any of its heat despite a three-week summer break. Under the sunshine, Lorenzo lapped the Brno circuit fastest in 1min 56.595sec with eight-time world champion Rossi 0.399sec behind and Spa nis h Honda rider Dani Pedrosa, who is third in the title showdown, 0.989sec off the Spaniard. "It?s a great thing to start the weekend in such a strong way and I?ve had a good sensation and feeling with my bike from the first moment," said Lorenzo. "This isn?t usually the case so I?m really happy. I like this track a lot; I?ve had three wins here in the past and I always feel confident riding here." Rossi, who has won four MotoGP races here, said there was more work to be done in Saturday's qualifying. "Jorge and I were very fast from the start of this session, which shows how good our bike is and what a great job Yamaha has done back in Japan," he said. "The setting isn?t perfect yet though so we need to work more, especially on the tyres because this track is very hard on both the front and rear. I hope the surface improves as more rubber is laid down because at the moment the grip isn?t great." Yamaha rider Colin Edwards of the United States continued his fine form after placing second at the last round of the championship, the British Grand Prix, achieving the fourth fastest time less than two tenths off Pedrosa?s pace. Italy's Andrea Dovizioso, the surprise British GP winner, was fifth fastest. Finland's Mika Kallio, who is replacing Australian Casey Stoner for three races in the Ducati team, c l o c k ed the seventh fastest time at 1.7sec. |
