Meanwhile the future of Stoner's Ducati teammate, American Nicky Hayden, looks shaky in light of the Italian team's move to try to lure Lorenzo away from Yamaha.
"I heard they've got the cheque book out," Hayden said.
"It would be interesting and it would be a brave move but money talks".
"It seems like Jorge is in a pretty good spot where here is now but I don't know all the ins and outs".
"But I'm sure this Lorenzo deal is on the front-burner."
So this would indicate that Ducati are looking at replacing Hayden? More like taking a shot at poaching Lorenzo. |

Doubt over Vermeulen's MotoGP future
AAP - August 18, 2009, 4:12 pm
The MotoGP career of Queenslander Chris Vermeulen is hanging in the balance after Suzuki's decision to sign young Spaniard Alvaro Bautista for 2010.
The move leaves Vermeulen and Italian Loris Capirossi fighting for the second spot on the factory team with Capirossi claiming he is set to re-sign.
Bautista's two-year deal was confirmed by Suzuki after Sunday's Czech Republic Grand Prix in Brno.
Vermeulen is talking with both Suzuki and Tech 3 Yamaha boss Herve Poncharal, according to website motorcyclenews.com.
An announcement could be made as early as the end of this month at the Indianapolis GP.
Capirossi is ninth in the world championship standings while Vermeulen is 10th. The Italian was fifth in the Czech race with Vermeulen 11th.
Bautista was Sp *** h 125cc champion in 2003 and the 125cc world champion in 2006.
He moved up to the 250cc class in 2007 and earned the Rookie of the Year title for his impressive results.
Runner-up in the 2008 title race, Bautista is currently in contention for this season's 250cc championship, sitting second with six races remaining.
<><>
Thought Capirossi might be ready for retirement.
does not seem so. |

Rossi on the other hand would be exciting if on a Ducati,
But those two have just been so far out in front. |

Re:09 Moto GP Season. (PREVIEW)
If Lorenzo goes to Ducati would be a silly move.
Agree, Yamaha have the bike to win, he goes to Ducati it will look like a money related move.
Unless Ducati say we will redesign the whole bike for you. Be sort of like Rossi going to Yamaha. |

They have now had some quality riders go there and they seem to struggle with the bike set up. Surely Stoners riding style cannot have that bigger difference to other riders that only Stoner can get around on a quick lap.
As people on here has said, that Stoner played a major part in the bike development, but i still find it hard to believe that others cannot set it up to suit them. |

'I honestly belive that if Stoner and Pedrosa has done another year of wo in the 250's they would be be more prepared for the biggr challenges of Moto gp..'
Stoner won a MotoGP championships and beaten God (Rossi) several times, you are right he was not prepared........
'As for Casey the "word" is he has lost the drive and is suffering for Anxiety and Mild depression, it is believed that the european teams dont recognise this as a serious health issue, hence why he has returned to Aus, and as i posted he has has this condition before...'
O...K....'european teams dont recognise this as a serious health issue' European teams as in?
'suffering for Anxiety and Mild depression' must have been Rossi, hey nikki? Oh thats right he's just putting on an act...... :P |

Should lorenzo take up the Duke teams offer? and will he???
who stays and who goes if Lorenzo does take the deal and is the word that Stoner has lost his drive true....why would they off it to Lorenzo if there was no truth to it.?????
Sure is the silly season of Moto gp ATM.
IMO i think that lorenzo woul d be better off not with the Duke just yet, and just like he did in the 250's, stay a little longer.....

And as for Rossi well there should be no mistaking that he is the best the world has ever seen so far...and for all of us to see him live is something that we can all tell the future about it he is truely remarkable... |

| True, i suppose there is the possibility of him losing second because of to many mistakes trying to catch Rossi? |

| Rossi can basically have 2 DNF,s and still win. All he has to do now is secure points, and the championship is his. He should do it easily. Lorenzo is more likely to make mistakes trying too hard to catch up on points. And others may also take points from Lorenzo. |

Here's hoping for a good result for Hayden at Indy.
And Lorenzo is gonna have to force Rossi into a mistake (everywhere) to peg things back now.
Possible to force Rossi into a mistake though it would be a big supprise. One thing that Lorenzo will have going for him is the fact that Rossi is not the sort of rider to seat back and take it easy with a healthy points lead. Rossi will be going for every win possible.
Which increases the chance of a mistake. |

Ducati offer Jorge Lorenzo £13m bumper pay deal
By Matthew Birt -
MotoGP
18 August 2009 10:57
Ducati has made Jorge Lorenzo a lucrative multi-million pound offer to quit Yamaha.
Desperate to sign a top rider while the future of Casey Stoner remains the subject of intense speculation, Marlboro has offered the 22-year-old a bumper £13m two-year deal.
MCN understands Lorenzo had further talks with Phillip Morris executives in Brno on Sunday night, though the Spaniard insists his first choice is to remain in Yamaha’s factory squad.
Marlboro is ready to bankroll a swoop for Lorenzo with the tobacco giant anxious to capture a big name should Stoner’s health issues drag on. Stoner is undertaking a period of complete rest to try and regain fitness for a planned return to action at the Estoril round in Portugal in early October.
Lorenzo said: “Ducati is an option. The important is to have a bike that can win the championship. It seems the Yamaha is the best right now,â€
A decision from Lorenzo is imminent, with his manager Marcos Hircht revealing a decision could be made as early as tomorrow (Wednesday), and an announcement would likely be made in Indianapolis. |

Not wrong, they are going through a bad run. Hoping that Hayden can continue to improve on the Ducati and become a front runner next year.
Though we talked about this some time ago regarding Lorenzo, you thought he would have waited a while longer to make his move on Rossi. Just keep the pressure from behind on him. Looks like he just pushed to hard to open the gap between them and have a buffer for the run to the finish. |
