Re:09 Moto GP Season. (PREVIEW)
Rossi does not make excuses.
He was in describing the way the bike felt when it spat him to burgess just after the crash.
not crying in the corner.
So if a rider says that the bike did not feel right or the tyres did not feel right is it an excuse or what is it? Just a simple question i'm asking, can someone who has raced please answer, cheers.
Not sure if you can answer that reddog seeing that you only raced C grade. (Only joking) |

| Obviously, it would have been better to have finished second than not to finish at all! Unfortunately I ran wide on to a dirty part of the track at turn one and lost the front. I tried to carry on but there was a problem with my throttle and it wasnt possible. I want to congratulate Jorge for his victory |

Rossi philosophical about Brickyard mishap
Sunday, 30 August 2009
World Champion Valentino Rossi is still in charge of the title race despite his Indy crash and has a chance to bounce back on home soil next weekend.
Rossi on costly crash
A rare crash from Valentino Rossi in Sundayâs Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix gave his team-mate and young MotoGP rival Jorge Lorenzo hope in the title fight, but the masterful Italian was not too despondent about what had occurred at The Brickyard.
Following Dani Pedrosaâs fourth lap crash it looked as though Rossi and Lorenzo could be set for another classic battle as the World Champion attempted to repeat his 2008 Indianapolis success. However, a crash from out of nowhere when Rossi lost the front end on lap nine handed Lorenzo the victory and now the championship advantage is down to 25 points with five rounds remaining.
The first of those remaining races is at Misano next weekend, where Rossi also won last year en route to his sixth premier class title and where he is sure to enjoy huge support from the passionate home crowd.
Reflecting on race day at Indianapolis, Rossi stated, âToday is a disappointment of course. We struggled here with the setting all weekend but we made an improvement today and I got a good start and was able to stay in touch with Pedrosa. Once he fell, I knew it would be between Jorge and I, but I honestly donât know how it would have finished, because Jorge was very fast today.â
He continued, âObviously, it would have been better to have finished second than not to finish at all! Unfortunately I ran wide on to a dirty part of the track at turn one and lost the front. I tried to carry on but there was a problem with my throttle and it wasnât possible. I want to congratulate Jorge for his victory and now we look forward to coming back to the front at Misano. We are still leading the championship and this is the most important thing.â |

Lorenzo reacts to superb Indianapolis results
Sunday, 30 August 2009
Things could not have gone better for Jorge Lorenzo at the Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix.
Lorenzo comments on Indy glory
Following his two heartbreaking DNFs at Donington and Brno Jorge Lorenzoâs title charge was revived in stunning fashion at Indianapolis on Sunday, as he took his third win of 2009 and halved the points gap to the top of the standings from 50 to 25.
The Sp *** h rider held his nerve to secure the win after first seeing race leader and pole man Dani Pedrosa crash out on lap four (to eventually finish 10th) and then witnessing his team-mate and title rival Valentino Rossi hit the deck on lap nine.
Having celebrated the victory in front of the Indy fans in his special edition Captain America helmet, Lorenzo commented, âWhat a day! In the World Championship if you want to win you have to be on the limit. In the last two races I was on the limit, trying to win, and I crashed, so it was a big disappointment. Today the situation has changed completely and now it has happened to Valentino and Dani unfortunately for them. However, for me, the situation is good.â
On how he managed the race from a psychological point of view after the crashes for his competitors, the 22 year-old added, âIt was difficult to keep my concentration for 20 laps, because it was a little bit boring. Bit you cannot relax when it is like that because if you think about something else you could crash. Anyway, I had some fun on the last lap and it is a very nice feeling!â
When asked about whether the title race was truly back on, Lorenzo stated pragmatically, âBefore this race I was telling the press that it was almost impossible, whereas now I would say it is difficult, but not impossible.â |

Hayden: âThis season has been biggest challenge of my lifeâ
Sunday, 30 August 2009
Nicky Haydenâs tough first season with Ducati took a distinct turn for the better as he achieved his first podium for the Italian factory at Indianapolis.
Hayden elated with home podium
Two visits to Indianapolis and two consecutive podiums makes great reading for Nicky Hayden and he will rightly savour the moment with his friends and family after another great performance at his home event.
The Kentuckian rider loves riding on American soil having achieved several good results in the U.S. down the years, but round 12 of the 2009 season will be remembered as one particularly sweet moment, as he marked up his first Ducati rostrum result in front of his home fans.
Indeed, having had some difficult moments in his career since his 2006 World Championship win, Hayden says the 2009 campaign so far has been the most challenging period of his life.
In an elated mood after crossing the line third behind Jorge Lorenzo and Alex de Angelis at The Brickyard, Hayden enthused, âIt is great to be on the podium. I am really happy. Everybody knows what a hard season it has been and to be honest it has been the biggest challenge of my life. We have hung in there and caught a couple of breaks today, and I was able to get on the podium again.â
The 28 year-old added in his typically American southern drawl, âI am happy to be up here spraying a little bubbly (champagne)! I have to say a big thanks to all my team, all my family and all my supporters for sticking behind me.â
Having fought off a strong push from Italian rival Andrea Dovizioso in the final stages Hayden also commented, âHe was all over me and I was getting a lot of heat so I wasnât sure I was going to be able to hold on. It was all or nothing on the last couple of laps and I managed to hold him off, so hopefully we can just keep building on this. I am very pleased and Iâm going to enjoy it!â |
