er thanks but no thamks to that idea mag.
We are heading down tomorow, have a house for the 4 days 2 streets away from the main street, am loking forward tothe awesome party that Philip Island puts on every year withut fail......
:-))))) Big Smiles
Heres hoping the weather forcasters are wrong as they are predicting rain all weekend, makes for interesting racing but from a spectators view on the oputside of the track it can be a tad miserable,
Not that we have that problem tho, he he he, pits all the way for me...:-))
So whos gonna win........
Well i hope Rossi will hold the mantle this year but wont be upset if Lorenzo wins on the wekend, ya know i might even cheer for stacy if he gets on the podium on saturday, it would be good to see him have some success again in Aus after his problems.....
Anyways who ever wins , whatever weather, whatever style of racing we see it will be a fantastic weekend. Aint nothin like edge of your seat go *** on the line bike racing, not like that sissy car race that all the bogans are obsessed with....
Go the Doctor!!! |

Casey Stoner’s impressive return to action in Portugal after a three-race absence means there is an added component to an already intriguing equation, with the Ducati Marlboro rider finishing second behind Lorenzo at Estoril. Stoner’s consecutive start-to-finish wins on his home track for the past two years mean that he will provide stern competition for both Yamaha factory riders, and at just three points behind third-placed Dani Pedrosa in the championship standings the Australian has his own immediate goal.
Honda Repsol rider Pedrosa has recovered from his crash and subsequent tenth-placed finish at Indianapolis by finishing third consecutively in Misano and Estoril, and with a DNF blemishing his record at Phillip Island last year after a first-lap crash he will be determined to not only rediscover the kind of ride that brought him a 250cc victory there in 2005, but also hold off the challenge of Stoner in the championship.
Pedrosa’s Honda Repsol team-mate Andrea Dovizioso placed seventh at Phillip Island in his rookie season last year. He triumphed at 125cc level in the 2004 race – beating Lorenzo and Stoner – and will hope to continue building on an encouraging second season in the top class, which currently sees him sitting fifth in the championship, some eight points ahead of Colin Edwards.
The American rounds off the top six as it stands in the championship, with a sizeable 37-point lead over nearest competitor Loris Capirossi (Rizla Suzuki). Edwards’ best-ever result at Phillip Island was fourth place in 2004, when he rode a Honda, and the Texan is seeking only his second podium finish of the season on his Monster Yamaha Tech 3 machine.
Following on from Edwards and Capirossi in sixth and seventh spots respectively, Randy de Puniet (LCR Honda), Marco Melandri (Hayate Racing) and Toni ElÃas (San Carlo Honda Gresini) all complete the current top ten in the MotoGP rankings.

Phillip Island beckons as MotoGP title race heats up
Monday, 12 October 2009
The 2009 MotoGP World Championship season continues to near its climax at Phillip Island over the weekend of 16th-18th October, as the battle for the title intensifies in Australia.
Rossi and Lorenzo set for Pacific Showdown
Jorge Lorenzo narrowed the gap on his Fiat Yamaha team-mate, reigning champion and current standings leader Valentino Rossi with victory at Estoril, where Rossi finished a distant fourth as his championship lead over the Spaniard was cut from 30 to 18 points with three races remaining.
Lorenzo’s win was the tenth for a Yamaha rider this year, leaving the manufacturer one short of its most successful year ever – 2005. Indeed, Lorenzo and Rossi have alternated wins since the Italian won in Brno, and a win for either in Australia would equal the longest-ever sequence of successive victories for Yamaha in the premier class, a feat they achieved in both 2005 and 2008.
In Phillip Island, Rossi will arrive at a circuit that harbours fond memories, and one which he has stated as a personal favourite. In his 12 visits to the track across all classes the reigning world champion has only once failed to finish on the podium, with five consecutive victories from 2001-2005 in the MotoGP class forming the body of a standout record.
Rossi has not won in his last three outings Down Under though, and with main title rival Lorenzo putting together a strong finale to his season, the pressure is intensifying. Two wins and a runner-up spot in his last three races is fine form from Lorenzo, who finished fourth last year at Phillip Island on his MotoGP debut on the track from second on the grid, and has twice tasted victory there the 250cc class.
Casey Stoner’s impressive return to action in Portugal after a three-race absence means there is an added component to an already intriguing equation, with the Ducati Marlboro rider finishing second behind Lorenzo at Est ... |

Rossi closes in on ninth world title
AAP - October 2, 2009, 12:29 pm
Valentino Rossi hopes to take a step closer to a ninth world title on Sunday with victory at the Portuguese Grand Prix which could deliver a fatal blow to the hopes of teammate Jorge Lorenzo.
With four races left this season, Rossi has a 30-point lead over fellow Yamaha rider Lorenzo and arrives in Estoril buoyed by his sixth win of the season at San Marino four weeks ago before the summer break.
The 30-year-old Rossi is also the most successful rider in Grand Prix history at the track, having stood on the podium on all of his nine visits, including five wins.
But last year, it was Lorenzo who commanded the headlines, clinching his maiden win in the elite MotoGP class, relegating Rossi to second spot.
"We're in the final stage of the championship and we have a strong position but, as we've seen throughout this season, anything can happen and we know that the championship is far from over yet," said Rossi.
"The next three races are all good tracks for us and my team and I will aim to get as many points as possible each time and then we will see where we are in Valencia (the season's last race).
"Last year we struggled a little in Estoril but it's been a great track for me in the past, especially with Yamaha, and it's a place that usually produces good, close racing so I hope that's the case again this year."
Lorenzo has three wins this season and has fond memories of Estoril, where he took his first elite-class win as well as his third consecutive pole.
"Now we go to Estoril, where I had one of the best moments of my life," said the 22-year-old.
"In the past I was never strong there but last year I did an unbelievable race. This year it's a different situation; a different time of year, everyone has the same tyres and we are in the closing stages of the championship."
Sunday's race also sees the return of Australia's 2007 world champion Casey Stoner, who has misse ... |

Since resting up in his homeland - fishing among other things in the Northern Territory - Stoner has put on weight and is now back to 60 kg, close on his ideal racing weight.
Ducati said he would return "despite not being in peak condition and he will remain under medical supervision throughout, with a new sodium-rich diet aimed at raising his blood pressure and muscular functionality."
The rider himself explained: "I?m definitely looking forward to the race weekend. Having three races off is the biggest period away from racing in my life. It was very difficult to accept the advice of the doctors to stop racing.
"In the past I have raced even when injured, like in the last few races of the 2008 season when my wrist was broken, but this time it was really not possible and of course I felt very sorry for the team.
"Now I?m looking forward to getting back together with the team and everyone and I hope I?ll be able to be more competitive than I was in the past, but we will have to wait and see.
"I?m looking forward to getting back and to starting work on the bike, looking towards the future." |

Stoner back.
PARIS (AFP) - Australia's 2007 world champion Casey Stoner returns to the track in Sunday's Moto GP race at Estoril, Portugal, after missing three races with a mystery virus that has knocked back his title hopes, Ducati said Tuesday.
"The results of the tests have excluded pathological anomalies of cardiovascular, respiratory or neurological origins. The exams and inspections also failed to show up any kind of virus or infection," his Ducati team said in a statement.
Stoner, 23, began to feel unwell at the Rally of Catalonia and noted that "in (initially) continuing to ride I pushed my body too far which led to a state of extreme fatigue."
Finland's Mika Kallio stepped into the breach for the Grands Prix at Brno, Indianapolis and San Marino.
Stoner was lying third in the overall standings behind Yamaha riders Valentino Rossi of Italy and Spaniard Jorge Lorenzo when he had to sit out the trio of races and has since slipped to fourth.
Doctors who treated Stoner, who turns 24 in two weeks, said their tests did show up "arterial hypotension and a lack of sodium, two anomalies which could be the principal factors" behind the weakness he complained of when taken ill.
Tests suggested he had been over-training and that Stoner had tried to come back from previous injuries and operations before his body was ready. |
