| from watching the many replays it look like Bright moved over on Murphy, and Caruso was pushed by Murphy(who had nowhere to go). |

It couldn't have been Murphs fault because say he had tapped Brights car causing him to spin infront of Murph theres no way that hitting bright he could flip back and hit Caruso pretty much instantaneously and keep holding line.
I'd say Bright has moved across (knowing or not knowing Murph was there) knowing that he was far off racing line |

I think Bright was the one that made the first contact, whether he knew Murph was there or not. Bright said that he was holding line, but if he was then it was not parallel to Murph
It looks like both Bright and Caruso were ahead of Murph by the back quarter panel, then Bright came into contact with Murph who hit Caruso and the collateral damage was Van Gisbergen which you got to feel for after qualifying 10th.
But like you said, the three was so close, one wrong move and.....well you know what happened next. |

There were about five replays of it during the telecast, but I still can't really tell who caused the incident between Van Gisbergen, Bright, Caruso, and Murphy (listed in order of car number - not incinuating anything here). Obviously Van Gisbergen can be ruled out, and I reckon that you can't really blame Murphy. He got put in a bad position where any slight movement could have led to disaster, so even if he lit the powderkeg by making a slight movement, you can't really hold it against him, given the miniscule margin for error. So, if you lay any blame, obviously it has to go to Bright or Caruso. However, I really can't tell who made the first movement out of those two.
James Courtney's black flag was a dead-set joke. Apart from being vehemently against the bad sportsmanship flag for 'blocking' (For Chrissakes, they don't have signs saying 'Keep left unless overtaking'), I find it hard to see how they pinged him proper. One lap later? What a joke. Were they even wtaching what was happening? |
