Phillip Island is a great track with reasonable facilities. Barbagallo is not a good track with deplorable facilities.
Latest news is that the government has more-or-less committed to upgrading the whole place or building a new track/motorsport park. Beauty.
Having said that, why not any flack for Queensland Raceway? (Not nearly as much, anyway). |

| it will be interesting if AVESCO cancelled the W.A. round as i am sure the manufacturers would demand the W.A round be reinstated afterall there is a lot of cashed upped v8 lovers in this state. |

I hate to say this but i'm glad the WA Govt said it.
I think AVESCO need to pull their head in a bit if they think they control everything. |

Is what AVESCO is doing right for motor sport in Australia? It seems that several of the grass roots tracks are now being threatened or over looked for rounds of the V8 Supercars. If the trend towards street races continue, the revenue will be made by the city council and not to the establish tracks in order to maintain tracks and facilities and further more allow the development of young drivers.
Using Wanaroo as an example, they say that there is a number of safety issues and the local club is willing to rectify these issues. One being the pit areas and the number of people going through the pits, if this is an issue then it is simple, stop people going into the pits!
They say that the distance from Perth city is to far yet the Saturday and Sunday racing is near full, but surely you can say the same for all established tracks, you might as well say that Bathurst is to far from Sydney. When the track gets to close to town, what happens, people who buy houses there whinge and then the track disappears into land development.
Where are these so called experts that give the OK for these street circuits? Hamilton was rough with a stupid idea for a chicane, tight which ended up with near on no over taking with the front runners. Canberra was another one laner too.
Of the street circuits that I have been to (Gold Coast Indy and Adelaide GP) you get a small piece of real estate to try and watch the race. At least at Wanaroo you get to see at least 80% of the track. |
