| So true Dazza..Personally,,I would like to see every computer aided device stripped from the cars..Except for the engine ECU of course.. Schumacher was the greatest as a driver of all these modern aids..I have no doubt he would have handled this years regulations OK.. This year has really shown how traction control eased the drivers load..Now they have to rely on the traction control they were born with...The connection between brain,bum,and right foot...Good to see the cars rear end wiggling around..It makes for much more exciting racing.. |

Here he is in a demonstration race with Jack Brabham in a Repco Brabham..The Mercedes dates from 1954,,and Jacks car is a 1966 model..Look at the difference that 12 years development in F1 brought..This is the car that Fangio won the world drivers championship in,,in 54 and 55..THE best front engined F1 car ever made.. Just look at it scarper down the main straight..It doesn't muck around !!!!! And doesn't half sound OK... |

| Another is my favourite all time driver,,Stirling Moss.. Maybe just a name from history for a lot of the young ones here,,but he still races,,well into his seventies.. Search,,"stirling moss". Check out the interviews on Windtunnel,,parts 1 and 2.. His insights are relevant to this current day and age.. He talks about who is the best F1 drivers..Like me,,he places Senna ahead of Schumacher..He talks how modern drivers,,with all of their aids,,are not drivers in the true sense,,per se.. Also look at him driving a Vanwall at a Scottish meeting..Only a short clip,,but the growl of that 4 cylinder engine,,is delightful.. Look at Monaco,in 1961 in the Lotus 18..The first year of the 1.5 litre Formula,,his 140 hp Lotus was up against the 180 hp Ferraris...Sheer driving skill won that day..He also won that year at Nurburgring..The only times Ferrari were beaten that year..Just happens to be the two tightest tracks where horsepower was no advantage.. |
