From afl.com....
In a bizarre development, the unofficial announcement of the appointment was made at a press conference by Port Adelaide coach Mark Williams after journalists asked why Bailey was not in attendance.
“I’m not sure if I’m here to announce that Dean’s the new Melbourne coach, but he is,” Williams said in Adelaide.
“It’s a great appointment by them and he’s very worthy of the job. We’re very happy for him, but obviously that means he doesn’t coach with us anymore.”
The appointment was then confirmed by Melbourne in a brief media release.
Nice one Choco hehehe |

Dean Bailey: announced by Choco earlier today.
Melbourne cant even get the announcement right, so you could question the process. |

| well hopefully we'll get three wins to finish off a bleak year with a little glimmer of hope for next year. though dealing with the dockers in form forward line will be a big challenge for our undermanned defence. holland plays rocca well normally so a win against the pies is a big possibility i believe. |

Get Paul Gardner to coach. He seems to want to do everything else. Is he in competition with Butters from South Park St Kilda for the worst Chairman in AFL? The positive thing is any new coach can only improve the D's position = you can't go much lower than 15th.
It doesn't matter who coaches - they wont be better than Daniher. |

| You have a number of options Voss, Longmire, Libba, Harvey, Royal, Bond, Ratten there are plenty of blokes willing to do the job but the Dees board have to find the jewel in the crown who can rebuild like Clarkson has at the Hawks. |

Grant Thomas?? if he were to become coach of melbourne i would seriously contemplate jumping off the Q1. were you on drugs when you thought that up? what club would even consider him as a coach again?
so This week will be Neale's last as coach, it will be a sad day for our footy club. |

| that's it in a nutshell, and perhaps the vitriolic robert walls can be his assistant, which knocks out two very biased media types, whose main contribution is based on personal likes and dislikes rather than objective criticism. As johnny "pigs a..e" elliott said wallsy never lets go if he gets you in the gun, and Gazza is just the same. |

Is Garry really doing that well in the media, i stop watching the footy show since he'd take over and his new show s u c k s.
the only reason he's not coaching is because we all know the last time he'd coach a senior team, it was the Aussie team that lost to Irish farmboys untill Sheeds took over and show him how to coach properly.
Garry Lyon s a loser as a player, cry like a wimp, and can't coach. keep hiding behind the microphone Garry, and by thelook of hings C9 gonna axe the footy show at the end of the year anyway, good bye Garry and please don't show your ugly head on TV again. |

| As much as Garry Lyon is admired and respected as "a Demon" I can't see him stepping straight from the media into the number one job at Melbourne. |

Melbourne captain David Neitz has backed coach Neale Daniher to continue at the club next year. There has been speculation Daniher may leave the Demons at the end of the season, as he is in the final year of his contract.
Neitz said Daniher had his full support to stay with the Demons. "Neale's been fantastic at the Melbourne footy club, he's been fantastic with me," he said.

I reckon all true MFC people would agree with that. Not just his coaching but his work behind the scenes for the MFC. I guess the continued speculation about Sheedy's future at Essendon has the tongues wagging. Let's hope Sheedy signs again because I couldn't see Daniher looking anywhere else. I personally hope not anyway. |
