FIRST TIME YOU HAVE ACTUALLY SAID SOMETHING THATS RIGHT REBOUND . IF YOU DONT FINISH TOP 4 ITS A WASTE OF TIME IS CORRECT . THAT GOES FOR ALL TEAMS AND NOT SOMETHING THE DEES WILL NEED TO WORRY ABOUT THIS YEAR .

I am tipping the Dees to fall into the 8 again this year but not go much further. I have said it before and I will say it again. We need muscle in the backline or we will always be found wanting. Unless you finish top 4 then forget it. Another wasted year.

Re:I felt sorry for the DEES Reply to this message
Always had a soft spot for the Tigers Coop. I was involved with a young lady and had a seat at the 1969 GF Best goal I ever saw was that day. Billy Barrett took two bounces on the member's wing and then drop kicked [yes drop kicked] a goal from about 70 yards out. Bl00dy brilliant.

....and yes I am feeling a little confident about tomorrow but Green can't do it alone. Davey needs to hit his straps. Been a slow [if you can call anything slow about him] start to the year. Maybe you could lend us Richo, just until Robbo and Netters get back. A couple of out of bounds [or is that bounce - lol] wouldn't worry me at this point.

Modcrow, stick with them ? mate I took them up when I moved to Melbourne in '56. Even had a cousin, Brian Leagh, play for them many moons ago. I guess you could say it's a bit late to change now.....lol. It's only round 3......plenty of footy left. We are starting slowly to build up momentum for the GF.

Now not only are we bereft of backmen but we have bugger all up forward. Another year of grief I fear. Fair dinkum you have to be into B&D and S&M to stay loyal to the Dees. But I am forever hopeful. Maybe a bad start means a great finish. Yeah, that's it. No fade out in the finals this year. Straight through. Go Dees....p-l-e-a-s-e

Re:I felt sorry for the DEES Reply to this message
Davey has this one strength. His speed. He puts backs under pressure because he is prepared to chase and chase hard. The opposition know they have to get rid of the ball quickly or get run down. You can put me down for 50 years as a supporter. They have been breaking my heart since '64 but I haven't abandoned them. I still, after round 1, hold to my original comment that we lack strong tough blokes at the back. Rivers is a top player but doesn't exactly instill fear. But, as has been said, it is only round 1 but the way the Saints were brushed aside tonight makes me wonder if our game last week was even worse than we thought.

Re:I felt sorry for the DEES Reply to this message
john pat bartlett alot of clubs would want davey . the top 2 teams wouldnt want him the eagles and the swans . these 2 teams only want players who put there body between the ball and opponent . thats why these 2 clubs are successful theres no soft players at either club or lightly built players . LAIR PLAYERS LIKE SAMPI STRUGGLE TO GET A GAME BECAUSE OF IT .

What team do you you follow?
Sure, we have had some bad seasons, but at the same time, we have had some bad umpuring decesions, just look at Friday's night game. 3 players in the back of a Melbourne player when he was on the ground, and play on? I ask you!!??

We have had a medicoco pree season, but, I think that we needed a hard game to help us for the season.

A lot of teams would love to have Arron Davey, this only proves how much the author of this mesage bord knows about football.

Arron Davey is a lot beter than geoff Farmer was ever. Farmer never went to get the hard ball, just waited till it was fed to him, while Arron Davey not only gets the hard ball, but he also tackels some players half his size.

Even though Neitze is getting older he's is still playing good footy.

What we need is another quailty ruck man to help out with White.

I don't think that Jamar is up to it.

Any way, it's only the first round for the year.

Let's see how we go for the rest of the season, true?

Re:I felt sorry for the DEES Reply to this message
The Dees do appear to lack desperation. Even when they seem to be working towards a good season, they seem to fall in a hole near the end, and struggle to the finals. Perhaps there is some truth in their image as a 'gentleman's club'. There almost appear to be a 'softness' in their endevour when it most counts. And I am a Dee supporter of 45 years!

Re:I felt sorry for the DEES Reply to this message
The problem with my beloved Redlegs is down back. We have several very good players down there but no-one who makes forwards look over the shoulder in fear. What we need is a mongrel who can put the fear of serious injury into the mind of any opposing forward who has the gall to actually try to get the ball. Bizzell has a bit of a mongrel streak but he is so prone to injury in the latter stages of his career that the week in/week out presence isn't there. Are there any Ray Biffen clones out there ? Or maybe a Graham Arthur ? Still, hopes springs eternal. We did it in 1964 so anything is possible.

Re:I felt sorry for the DEES Reply to this message
I feel that the Dees have been a good team for a few years now without being a champion or top team ... they'll probably finish there abouts again this year and rightfully so. I don't & can't see them playing too far in september.

1 more good forward (tall marking one) and a bit of depth could/would help them imo ... but you can only play with the team you've got.
