Climb off your hobby-horse of prejudice, and open your ears. MJ & wife are contrite because they have hearts!!!
He made the kind of mistake THE WHOLE COMMUNITY CONDONES BY DEFACTO EDUCATION.

Of course the woman claims she was degraded. Then why did she consent? She has a mouth too!!

Actually, Patty, the girl has nothing to do with John's behaviour. If it was not her it would be someone else. Unfortunately, he is not a fit person for any public role or to influence children through sport. He is a pervert. This type of perverted behaviour needs to be stopped.

I watched the Current Affair interview with Tracey Grimshaw. While I am horrified about the events of that incident, watching the grief on Matthew and Trish's face I feel that they have been through enough and Matthew has taken the rap that should be also shared by the other players involved.

It is obvious Matthew is aware of how much the incident hurt his wife and children. But the question has to be asked, why single him out? He did what I am sure many young men in football do as a matter of practice. This is what has to stop: the way this macho practice of taking advantage of available women has been part of football culture for many years.

Let Matthew try to rebuild his marriage and take some more time away from this scandal. His wife and kids don't deserve the negative attention that his actions have resulted in, and if his wife can forgive his infidelity then we should all leave them alone as a couple - they're looking exhausted and need to put this behind them.

As for the girl, I think she needs to also try to put this incident behind her. She has suffered for it and is dragging out this public shame, for what? Is she enjoying the number of lives it has destroyed? Matthew has been punished: he almost lost his marriage, he's lost his career in sports media and goodness knows how much else this will cost him in the long run.

Let's move on, there are bigger issues in Australia deserving our immediate attention. What a retired football player did seven years ago, and for which he is remorseful is hardly news anymore.

The people who stood to gain most from this are probably his critics and detractors who out of jealousy made sure he lost his media career when this scandal broke out. Are those of you who took part in breaking the news of this scandal happy with yourselves? How about achieving success the honest way and not from plotting someone else's downfall.
