My final attempt at trying to crack this peanut:
1. Why weren't people calling for Hagan's sacking in 2005 when the Knights ran last?
2. When was the last time you (a) argued a point you actually believed in and (b) agreed with something else someone posted on these boards?
Arguing for the sake of arguing is ridiculous. Surely you have something better to do with your time? I'm here because I'm a fan of the Knights and I hate seeing my club getting ripped up like this. |

Thanks for the update, I really have no idea what is happening in the world today. Let's check the respective positions of the two sides you mentioned at the end of the year, shall we?? And I'll ask again - why are people calling for Smith's sacking now, when they weren't calling for Hagan's sacking then?
I also have no idea why you continue to argue points that you not only have no knowledge of, but also display complete apathy towards. You're not a Knights fan, so why are you here?
Life really must be a trial for you, with so much negativity running through you. |

I dont know if you have been asleep, but this is 2007
The Eels are on the same amount of pts (12) as the knights.
Figure that out. |

| Mullins FYI, The Knights ran last in 2005 and no-one was calling for Hagan to be sacked then. Figure that one out. |

As usual blame the coach, if the players havent enough pride in there performance, get rid of the rest of them.
A team cant be successful every single year, there has to be a period of rebuilding.
They have just lost one of the greatest players of alltime.
Get used to losing more before you win more.
Most clubs go through it, people who bag the coach arent true fans of the club or rugby league.
They are the kind who boo there players off the field. |

| I think it was a dismal mistake in signing him as coach. He openly admits he only came here to be able to coach Joey. He left Parra in a sad mess, players were far from happy, he is doing the same thing here now. Coaches have a use by date the same as players and he had gone past his. If our local boys were not good enough to stay with the Knights how come they have already joined other clubs??... Smith is buying other clubs cast offs???. The Knights have let some damn good players go and seen them flourish in other clubs, Ben Kennedy is a prime example. We have always be a proud Novacastrain support group, but the way its going we wont have any locals to support. Imagine a Knights game with only a few hundred fans turning up....With Smith in the helm it could happen! get rid of him....NOW. |

Mullins you dumb f//uck
7after the Superleague split, Jarrod McCracken Dean Pay Jason Smith Jim Dymock and Aaron Raper ALL defected to Parramatta from Canterbury/Cronulla.
The only other defection of note to the ARL was Freddy Fittler.
Yet despite no SuperLeague clubs, AND this player group, Parramatta still failed to make the ARL grand final.
He is a coaching genius |

Under his reign Parra had one of there most successful periods.
Only the 76-86 period have they had more success.
Before he arrived at Parra between 87-95 they failed to make the finals.
The only thing he didnt achieve was winning a premiership. |

| I think under his tenure Parra had one of the worst rates at holding onto their signings. It seems every team has ex-parra players in them ATM |

Clubs will lose players to retirement., and better offers
A sign of a shyte coach is where a large number of players leave a club in acrimonious circumstances, and delight at mouthing off at the club/management or exacting revenge on the football field.
Brian Smith is the standout coach of the last decade for having players leave his club under such circumstances.
The guy is a t00l. The knights were naive in signing him - I think they felt there would be a mass exodus of players to follow him |

"Im sure he has a bit more knowledge of coaching than you."
Thanks mullins, because that was exactly the point of my post. I should be coaching the Knights.

Re:About the Knights Reply to this message
yeah Brian will be your saviour...he did SOOOO well at Parra with all the Championships he got there...he is amazing......hold on a moment.......the team choked at every turn of a finals series...... twice even being up 18 points at half time and they couldn't get over the line. He can recruit but he cant keep them and he cant gather them as a true team.
One thing i have learned in business with staff is this -
GAIN, TRAIN, MAINTAIN. Brian can do the 1st only. Good luck....you will need heaps.
here is my understanding! |

Im sure he has a bit more knowledge of coaching than you.
The dragons hadnt been in the finals since 85 when he took them to consecutive GF appearances.
The era of successful knights teams as come to an end and like all clubs need to rebuild. There might be a period of lack of success, but many teams have gone through this.
It was the players who layed down last week, not the coach. |

I think so.
He's taken excellent rosters at St George and Parramatta and won exactly zero premierships with them. Now, he turns up at Newcastle, sacks half the squad and tells the media that it's all about 'business'.
The guy may know a bit about football, but he's sadly lacking in two areas:
1. Social skills, as witnessed by the ever-increasing mountain of players he has had "falling-outs" with;
2. Preparing teams for important matches.
Pretty important skills for a coach, wouldn't you say? Newcastle have suddenly shortened in the wooden spoon market for this year. Sack him now... |
