I apologies to those I may have offended or had to read my cr@p yesterday .... I overeacted big time .. .. .. I thought it was a troll/ clone who's been havin' a crack at my very thin skin.

No harm done I hope and I'll try to keep it more in perspective in future.

I've never watched any of these DVDs (I probably should buy them I suppose)... I haven't even seen the movie Phar Lap .... but I did see MJ more than once ride Kingston Town while I was at the races. . . truely unbelievable, I have horses, I go to the track and races many many times a year & have done so for years. I still to this day have not seen a horse like that, he could make 2 .. 3 .. even 4 runs in one race as I've posted before.

MJ could make a run on his mount ... sit him back in the field, go for another run later in the race and do that as I say many times in one race. Kingston Town would just come back under MJ & settle and when asked he would make another run. Simply AWESOME !!

A Champion amongst Champions ... a worthwhile immortal in the equine world...... and he gave me my addiction to thoroughbred racing.

Yes, I have the King and the Man, and a few others, waiting patiently on the Divas dvd !

No offence taken swan, as far as I know, there are no other females on here.
My mare is a TB cross, with what I dont know.
Very good looking if I say so myself, well, others do too.
Im in ponyclub, (dont groan you lot, lol) I did alot of showing when I was younger, to the point of being sick of it, and now just totally enjoy the competitiveness of the gymkhana sporting events, the speed events, I love em.
My horse is in foal,(well hopefully) to a registered Australian stockhorse, a campdrafter.
Im after a top notch sporting pony, a black one I hope as both mare and stallion are black themselves.

ace, its all subjective...thats what makes it fun..(for most of us)...I remember when Lohnro won his first group one, I think it was Glen Boss who said "I had it won...then this horse went past me...faster than I have ever seen a horse run before...I felt the breeze!". There is no answer to the question....but fun discussing!

It staggers me the fact that kingston town even if people dont put him at the top,is often not even in some peoples list,he must be in the top 4 at least, of all time great aussie gallopers.I know its not fair to compare horses of today with horses of past, but really ,even though the likes of octagonal, lohnro, might and power etc, were in there right great horses,i cant put them in the same class as the big black horse,I could see Mal parking in behind might and power, cruising along till the home turn at randwick, then excellerating past him in a flash,,as he did so often in his races.Any race fans should get the dvd the king and the man,,just watch,,his performances on track speak louder than words.

..."...I'm sick of put downs from others who are infact (sic) nothing but liars"

You show me where you have reacted because you have reacted from a comment of a liar. Or, someone who has posted a lie on this forum.

So far on this thread, you have degenerated into brain-heamorraging abuse because of comments from posters, neither of which was a lie.

What I have witten, is the absolute truth. The other poster merely said you were a mug if you thought the horse and rider in question were even on the same continent as each other.

There was no personal put-downs. And no attacks "for no reason". Just merely a request of mine, to stop the self-congratulatory skiting and stick to the topic of the thread.

If you want to talk about how much money you've won in the past, why don't you start another thread named "Biggest Winnfalls" or something?

Ok danehill ... I can wear that and I will settle down if ya like.... but I'm sick of put downs from others who are infact nothing but liars.

Maybe I'm slow or this cyber world is just full of imaginary people with imaginary ideas ..... I don't accept personal put downs in the real world, so I certainly don't expect to be attacked for no reason and have to accept it.

.... and if I am, I will make come backs, & LOUD ONES !! .... I'm for real dude not make believe & maybe some can gain from my hard, very hard but good life. I don't mind havin' a yarn, if it's not bull and dirt.

I'm happy though atm ...

dont really go much to the track nowerdays, but saw Octagonal...thought he was quite good, and a UK runner...Red Rum...both big hearted fighters. Will like to see the next lot out of the Inghams stables, probably another year, but dont be suprised if they finally have a true melbourne cup chance.

Gee...swans...calm down. I think you've been into the fertiliser yourself, the way you're carrying on.

Either that, or you're smoking the grass you were cutting on your tractor.

Lighten up. I'm sure you're a decent bloke, but you're making yourself look like a tool with all this name-calling and abuse.

Re:Best thoroughbred you've ever seen ra ... Reply to this message
Okies ghost - is your mare a TB or a hack ?..... is she now in foal & if so, who too ??

I married into racehorses after bein' a mug punter for about 6 years. I learned a hell of a lot from being envolved so deeply from then on. It is "the sport of kings" but blokes like you and I can enjoy the racing life by owning, part owning a horse. It just takes a lot to become shrewed or you'll be taken to the cleaners by ... trainers, jockeys and theives & liars.

Be very carefull if you start to race your own horses ... trainers have a book on the excuses used for horses not performing so don't get too hopefull or unrealistic as to you charges ability. . . Oh and jockeys are very very sneaky little buggers as well but it is good to have a couple of them on your side.

Re:Best thoroughbred you've ever seen ra ... Reply to this message
I love reading all this stuff, lol
I dont know how much of it is true or how much is bs
But I'm a believer.
I dont claim to be a trainer, jockey or anything to do with the races, I am just a person who has a love of horses and anything to do with them.
Ive had some good wins on them, but nothing like what you guys have had.
I dont often bet a hundred dollars on a horse. The first time I had a hundred on the nose, it was Vo Rogue, but bl00dy Dandy Andy screwed me, lol.
I had 50 on the Diva the first year and a hundred on her in the last two cups.
I can ride, and do own horses, and am hoping my mares in foal as I just got her back from a stallion last week.

So yeah, keep the stories coming in, Im enjoying them.

Hey, I might be a mug .... I don't lie, cheat or steal. I have a great life and play around on my kids 'puter while I'm in recoup.

Not like some i d i o t who has done sweet F all in there life and prefer to play games with themselves.

... and I don't care where Harvey, Take Over Target etc is. So if I'm an *** / nieve, so be it but if I ever get my hands on YOU I'll use you as fertalizer on one of my paddocks ....you low life MAGGOT !!

Yeah ... I know Barry McGrath, Alan & the boys from the Broken Hill Hotel & won my fair share on The Arc ... boy he had a nice turn of foot.

We could go on a while about WA horses .... Jungle Dawn, Jungle Mist, Rogan Josh etc etc .... they are no better or worse than others in other states.

It's good to hear John Scorse is still doin' ok .... I use to have a bit on him along long time ago, pretty sure up around Cessnock, Hawkesbury & Newcastle were his favourite hunting grounds... was it not ?

Being a WA man, surprised you didn't mention PLACID ARC. I asked Johnny Scorse about him one day and he said (in his dry ocker voice) "Oh gee, he was a good horse".

Don't know why, but it makes me laugh thinking about it.

He's retired now, John, and giving the Mounting Yard Mail at Canberra.

I am not Paul Harvey. But, you're right, he was (is?) a very good rider. Don't know how many times we'd be in the pub and WA races would be 30 secs from jumping...

"...what's Harvey on.....the 6.....drawn 3.....3rd favourite....that'll do me...i'll have a little blue swimmer on that one".

Great rider.

Re:Best thoroughbred you've ever seen ra ... Reply to this message
Mate - I just went and did a couple of laps on my tractor (cuttin' oaten hay) and got half way round my 2nd lap and realised that you are tryin' to fob yourself off as Paul Harvey ....mmmm ??

Well, if it is you Paul then we've met (you've even ridden a couple out of the stable).... & if it isn't then too bad 'cause oh to be able to ride like him. Mind you, I reckon SJ and Russell Stewart would outride Mr P Harvey any day of the week.

Danehill - if you can get your hands on some WA racing stats, then have a look at the career of Sovereign Ghost (Beau Sovereign - Miss Holborn) .... how many wins ??? how many cheques ???? ... I was his track rider and strapper for 6 of those years (Peter Porky Grahams stables) He was WA TAB horse of the year as a ten yo .... won over 40 races. Not many can boast of a race record like his.
..... btw, if you can find those stats, then post them in here. I do have 'em somewhere myself but finding them may take time.

He may not have been a group1 winner... he did win a big one at Belmont as a 2 yo and kept winning 'til he was 11.... what a Champ in my eyes.

He gave many an apprentice an armchair ride ... the likes of Stubberfield, Miller M, SJ rode him, Maker, Oliver J, Roy Rogers, L Harris & others. .... he was simply a gentleman and knew his way around the track, all they had to do is give him a sit just on the pace, he did the rest. All you did was say c'mon Bill and he tried his gits out for you.

In my eyes Sovereign Ghost deserves a place in this topic.

Yeah ... maybe.

I rode work as pup myself. Rode some usefull types even.

So was it slow work or a gallop today ??

The best I rode was .... Sovereign Ghost .... Lawman .... Twig Rocket & Twig Ruler.... it's been a long time since I was in a pad but I still have many interests in thoroughbreds.... including breeding.
