| Without any shadow of any doubt - no matter how objectively i look at it - i just cant go pass Kingston Town. Just for the record though 2 faves were always Sir Boom (i know, i know but i won more money on that horse than anyone did on Fine Cotton but i did say fave - not greatest) and Dulcify just maybe was going on to greater heights. |

| true, I suppose I mean the philosophy of Woodlands, not gelding. They are certainly building one of the best studs in the world |

| FOO is a gelding. LONRHO and OCTAGONAL are entires. Had they been gelded, I'm sure we would have enjoyed their racetrack careers for far longer. |

| Like the comment re Woodlands ...notice that they never run the really good ones for more than 2 or 3 seasons...given FOO result, you wonder what Octagonal or Lohnro could have gone on to win if they had raced another 4 seasons? |

| I remember a horse called Dulcify trained by Colin Hayes. Only had about 5 or 6 starts when he won the Victoria derby and them went on to street them in about 79 in the Cox plate and Mackinnon stakes. Was a red hot favourite for the cup that year too but broke down and was put down on course. Won ten times in about 20 starts. I was just a kid of 13 then and I cried when they announced he was to be put down. Maybe not the greatest ever but was just about the best in 79. |

| I can't split Saintly & Octagonal. Both horses captured my interest in racing. I'm a huge fan of the Woodlands Stud horses, both past and present. I'm expecting big things from Musket. |

Good story that one quizman-
Vo Rogue & Vic Rail is worthy of a mention on this page, for all the right reasons.
Sometimes you have to look beyond the horse and find a story. You did just that . . . & good on you !! |

Ooooh ace - a man after my own heart.
He's the best I've ever seen .... I watched him and Bianco Lady go at it one day & she had an 11kg pull in weghts and her times were simply fantastic. When the King was asked he carried his big weight to win and I was there to see the Randwick crowd go silly.
Wow what an animal .... what a heart !! |

| Please explain how kingston Town can be concidered up and down,,no horse since has won as many group 1 races,Dont forget he raced with two troublesome joins for most of his career, its scary to think what his record would be if he had remained sound.Look at his record, compare it to Who ever you like,Lohnro,Might and Power, sunline, the diva.He could win races over 1200 in better than 1.9,and could stretch that to 2 miles,Who has done that since,He was only up and down while he adapted to the melbourne way of going,In Sydney no horse in the modern era would have got near him. |

The best racehorses I have actually seen run in the flesh are Octagonal, Might and Power, Rough Habit, Chief de Beers, Slight Chance, Dane Ripper, and With Me .
There is probably more that I havent thought of, but I only see them if they come to Brisbane to race.
Actually I loved Quick Flick, he was a personal fave of mine. |
