| The greatest horse I've ever seen was Discreet Cat. Discreet Cat is the best thoroughbred ever and would've easily defeated Barbaro in the K.Derby and left Bernadini and Invasor in the dust in the Breeder's Cup. His connections did him an injustice as they never let him get into the biggest races because they were afraid he'd beat their other horses which they had hype and money invested in. It is lame! I have never seen such a "Push Button" horse. He could give you a tremendous burst of speed anywhere on the track. This was BS not letting him run, then he got sick before the Dubai Cup and never recovered. |

I may get flamed for this, but....
Curlin. He's the best I've ever seen. I've believed that from the moment I first laid eyes on him in the Rebel. He confirmed my belief by winning the Preakness in courageous fashion (I had the pleasure of seeing this live), and then capturing the Breeder's Cup Classic and defeating a field that included Street Sense, Hard Spun, Lawyer Ron, Any Given Saturday, and Tiago (not to mention George Washington, R.I.P.). |

Best "1st up" horse - Shaftesbury Avenue
Best 3yo filly - Inaflury (had the wood on them all that season until injury befell her)
Best horse - gotta say Makybe Diva...3 cups says it all. |

The best horse I've ever seen race live was Better Loosen Up in the Cox Plate.
The best horse I've seen race on some other medium was without a doubt Kingston Town. The exact quote was, "...Kingston Town can't win." The other posters have covered his superlatives and the DVD/Video "The King and The Man" adequately cover the careers of both Manikato and Kingston Town.
The biggest win I've ever seen was either Dulcify in the Cox Plate in '79 or Might and Power's Caulfield Cup. Both were dominating wins by a huge space against open company field. Kingston Town's biggest wins were against restricted company in his 3 year old classics. His first Cox Plate win resulted in a suspensory injury that would dog him for the rest of his racing career.
The most thrilling race would have to be Bonecrusher and Our Waverly Star in that Cox Plate. A toe-to-toe, no-holds-barred bloodbath from three furlongs out. Great theatre. Bill could always call a race, although Bert was always my favourite. |

| I dont think anyone can argue with Popular Alm - talk about special. Its scary to think what hed do to todays fields if he was on song. So far though, the names thrown up would make 1 hell of inter-dominion field. |

| Ths saddest thing Mullins is that youre not even capable of any veiled attempt at humour. Youre just out to be noticed, be difficult and see your own petty thoughts on screen, thus giving you a self satisfaction and belief that you matter. Pretty easy actually, im done on the matter, youre just not worth the time. |

Kingston Town is too far back, he cant win.
A man after my own heart. Ive posted it before but this just sums it up with the cox plate rapidly approaching.
That win was without a doubt the greatest win ive ever seen. What the King accomplished will not be rivalled. 3 plates, multi state group wins, 1200 - 3200m, tenacious, brilliant, you could go on. Personally, hes the best ive seen without peer. Others hold different views and thats cool, times are different now and have been for a while as far as racings concerned but i dont think we'll ever see another reel off cox plates like the king.
I suppose you could apply that rule to Makybe Diva too so it all becomes subjective. Either way, if you look at some of the names that have been thrown around this thread, it makes for a pretty impressive start list - no matter what era or country. Put simply, its testament to the quality of horse we turn out in the southern hemisphere, specifically here and NZ. |
