Personally i dont take tips from anybody..unless its the actual horse trainer who says his horse is a certainty, then i might back it.Im sure you wouldn't back a horse tipped by your local baker.

One other thing... about jockeys. Consider Darren Beadman. Between 1/8/6 and 25/7/7 he rode 754 races and won 194, came 2nd on 119, and 3rd on 105. This is a jockey in form. In effect, you can say Darren Beadman won a race every four rides he had. Some people actually just follow their favourite jockey. Of course, not every jockey is a Darren Beadman but you get the picture....

kangaroo... have you heard of track work and trials? There are experts who monitor trackwork and barrier trials and prepare assessments of their performance. They c l o c k the horses... note the exceptional gallops of the week etc etc, they get feed back from stables. Then there is the natural ability of each horse. there are many factors that point to a horse's ability to win... the right course, the right track , the right distance... trainer, jockey, etc etc.

There's no point trying to back outsiders... they rarely come in and you'll simply lose. The statistics show that 70% of winners are priced below 6/1. And there is a lot to say about favourites, but sometimes you have to recognise what we know to be a false favourite.

What I'm saying is backing horses is a mugs game (and just a bit of fun) for a lot of people. But not to serious punters and students of form like me. It's like anything else, you must do your homework, no different to researching companies when investing in stocks and shares.

Are you saying that ALL jockeys ride their mounts to the full potential?.they dont hold them back while whipping the sh1t out of them??fair dinkum..As for these so called "expert tipsters" on T.V and those tipsters in the papers, they couldnt pick a winner between them!!So what chance has the ordinary bloke got?Form means nothing, even a 1000 to 1 on shot can be beaten by a 1000 to 1 outsider.I prefer to keep my money thanks.

kangaroo... you don't seem to understand that the concept of having good form. It applies in all sports. Swimming, athletics, cycling, football, etc etc. And it's the key to horse racing.

As for horse racing being seen as corrupt, I'm not saying it's squeaky clean... but then the corporate world isn't either.

Now I don''t want to know who CB is but if you look at the top 30 trainers, they're there to run a business... they can't afford to be involved in scandal... their businesses would suffer, their reputation would plunder. Ask Anthony Cummings. Ask Lee Freedman. They've had first hand experience of being outed from training for months on end. Not very nice.

Same applies to top city jockeys. Too much is at stake. The few who do go astray pay the high price. Ask Jim Cassidy. Ask Chris Munce. They've had first hand experience of being outed from riding worldwide for months. Chris is actually in prison for his Hong Kong debacle.

As for crooked bookmakers, think of the Fine Cotton affair and its impact for example on the Waterhouse family, and Gai Waterhouse's husband. Believe me, Robbie Waterhouse is watched like a hawk!

City racing is very much under the microscope, and stewards rarely miss a trick today. The blood testing techniques are sophisticated and you have to be a very brave or stupid jockey to pull a horse and think no one will notice during a race or on video replay.

Anyway, you shouldn't even be contributing to this topic with your negative attitude to horse racing! And yes, the average person will lose on the horses, mainly because they haven't studied the form and are just guessing. Well I do study form and I do win every punting day.

I think you'd be better contributing about 9/11 conspiracies than looking stupid with your comments about horse racing!

Most reasonable people know horse racing is a mugs game and you LOSE more than you win so please dont bullsh1t.Its a corrupt sport as i know first hand,I was told by a certain trainer(i cant give his name but his initials are C.B.)that this particular horse would win..which it did.So ok go give your tips here but hopefully people will dismiss them.

Now why would I want to be a bookie? That's work. I gave up working 10 years ago when I realised I could make at least $2,000 minimum a week punting. It's an easy life... so much leisure time. Studying form is a pleasure to me. I don't see studing form during the day or night it as work. Best of all, my winnings are a windfall for tax purposes, so I don't pay income tax on my horse winnings.

Horse racing is not a lucky dip. Horses run well because of one thing... their form. I mean, be honest... in World Cup football, who do you think would win... Brazil or Australia? Brazil, right? Now why? If you can ansewr that then you can understand better what I do and how I reason out my selections.

Also, a punter must have a strategy. It's not about betting one horse or two. It's about making a return collectively through a handful of bets. But you must know the horses. I'm at an advantage in that I have the time to do my homework. To me, it's the ultimate lifestyle. I don't answer to anyone but myself.

On this message board, I just assumed people were serious for tips, but it seems I'm mistaken. In life you have to be positive all the time. But seeing the comments on this topic, I'm sad people are so negative. To be a success in anything, you must be positive or you never achieve your potential. You must believe in youself.

Anyone, I won't go on... I'll just cop more flak!

Don't worry about it telephone...there's always gonna be people who try and drag you down. I personally don't want to hear about punters doing their doe.

Of a morning, i much rather hear about one of the boys having a win, than hearing about them losing.

I must say though the self-congratulatory garbage can be toned down a bit. But otherwise, good luck to you son.

Re:Any horse tips place here!!!!!!!!!!!! ... Reply to this message
Well well well... I thought this topic was about giving tips. Instead I cop abuse!

I gave the tip "Same Tone" at 9.36 pm last night. I explained about the horse. I explained I was putting $1,000 place bet on "Same Tone'. I explained I didn't know what the track conditions would be or the starting price. I did what I said and I got a return.

So why are you guys so negative? Is it because you feel p i s s e d off you didn't follow my advice? Are you p i s s e d off that while you have to work, I spend hours studying form so that I make money buy punting correctly? Yes I my bets don't always come in, but I've always made a profit every day I've punted. I just have a handful of bets but I make sure I've done my homework.

I'm not on the dole and never have been on the dole. But I know my horses. I would have thought people would be pleased to receive a tip. So I can't understand the reason for the abuse I cop here.

Now if you say anyone can back a favourite and win, go ahead but the statistics only show that 65% of favourites end up 1st, 2.nd or 3rd. Not a good record.

On 9/7/7 I tipped Fivecougarsthanks which won. Again I copped similar c r a p.

What I can't understand is why people would react in such a negative way instead of just backing the horses. What's wrong with you guys?

Just also got a win with Parchie - Sandown Race 7. So today, of four horses I backed backed (win or place), I got a return on three of the four today. In addition I won the First 4 in Race 5 which Van Gogh won.

Total outlay today has been $1, 875 which returned me $4,754. Can you see now why I don't work?

Congratulations to those who backed "Same Tone" Race 6 Sandown as I recommended. He came third. Godieeeeeee!!!!

I turned my $1,000 place bet to a return of $1,300... a 30 % return on my investment. I hope you did too.

"most corrupt sports in the world"

I actually take a bit of an exception to that.

Racing is largely a transparent sport. It is highly regulated, and everything is open to public scrutiny.

What's going on in cycling at the moment just shows how rife drugs have been in sports for many years now.

Betting in cricket, rugby league, soccer, ANYTHING really have produced many highly dubious results and nothing is ever done about it. No enquiries. Nothing.

In racing such results would mean immediate questions would be asked.

Well i guess anyone silly enough to place a bet coming from any mug tipster on a chat board thread deserves to lose their money in one of the most corrupt sports in the world.

Re:Any horse tips place here!!!!!!!!!!!! ... Reply to this message
Look... I try to tip the best of a handful of tips I determine for a day. I do a handful of bets to collectively make a return on the day. Usually, I decide on the selections just before race one of the day and I place all the bets at one go.

Here I try to give you guys, well in advance, a tip. But if the track conditions are c r a p I can't help that. Sometimes even I want to shoot the jockey for a s h i t job. But generally, if I appraise a horse, and the jockey does what he's supposed to do... well even a drover's dog could probably have won on the horse.

Don't find ways to be negative. Just back the bloody nag I suggest. Most times than never you'll come out ahead. My best return I must say was Fields of Omagh when he won the Cox Plate. I got him well in advance with a bookmaker at 35/1... and at $1,000 on the nose I was very happy at the end of the race! All the negative punters just didn't have their ears listening to what David Hayes and Tony Mckevoy were saying that FOO would win. I did hear. That's racing.
