Monkie to help our ruck. Reply to this message
Hawthorn Football Club has appointed Collingwood premiership ruckman Damian Monkhorst as part-time ruck coach ahead of the 2010 season.

Monkhorst played 215 VFL/AFL games and has been a highly rated ruck coach in roles at Collingwood and Richmond.

He joins the Club with a strong background in developing young ruckmen and will work intensively with Hawthorn's big men over the summer and throughout the season.

In welcoming Monkhorst to the Club, Hawthorn General Manager Football Operations Mark Evans said, "Damian brings a wealth of experience to the role that will stand the Club's ruck stocks in good stead."

Evans also wishes to share news that recently retired Hawthorn premiership player Robbie Campbell will remain involved at the Club in an off field capacity.

Returning to study in 2010, Campbell will work with Monkhorst to develop the Club's young and upcoming ruckmen, as his university commitments allow.

Evans praised Campbell's commitment to the Club and character in taking on the role, "It is indicative of Robbie's character that only a short time after retiring, his first thoughts were of helping our young guys improve."

Campbell also hopes to continue his involvement with some of the Club's community programs in 2010.
