BOYLE:
Hip and groin injuries limited him to just six matches last season after a promising 20-game return as a dangerous marking forward in 2007. At his best, is a solid lead-and-mark option who kicks accurately at goal. Booted eight goals for the Box Hill Hawks in the last round of VFL action. His seventh season looms as a critical one for a player who has struggled with injury.

Re:Hawks 2010 Reply to this message
But it would be nice to get something, a late pick perhaps, instead of delisting him and getting nothing

Boyle won't raise interest, he's knackered.

I'd say Thorp, Williams and pick 7 for Lake. That'd be ok with me and I'm sure the Dogs would love a couple of forwards.

Re:Hawks 2010 Reply to this message
How about Williams and/or Boyle to:
Carlton for Thornton
Sydney for a Bolton
Essendon for a Ryder
Bulldogs for Lake
Eagles for Glass

Got to give something away to get someone decent. And it is quite a big hole to fill!

If you want to seal the deal trade a pick in the 90's to the Cats for Blake, add in Blake to your deal to Freo and they might throw in Pav

I don't want another talentless Stokes clogging up the list!

I think we'll talk to Freo about getting McPharlin back - we'll give them Taylor and Croad for Sandi and McPharlin, knowing Freo they will think they are getting a bargain!

Lonergan is a KPD who may well be looking for a new home :)

Yep, looking ahead already - sad but true!

Who should we delist/trade, what do we need to come in and how do we turn things around?

For mine, Taylor has to go - he is a liability in every aspect of the game. Too many free kicks, too many mistakes, not enough impact and has no foot skills at all. Bailey, hopefully, will be fit enough to be our third ruck.

Boyle looks to have had it too. We need to put a rocket under Thorp's arz and keep him fit - the boy owes us at least a season of delivering on the promise he showed when drafted at 6!

Of course, Stewie Dew will be gone next season too, maybe even Croad.

IMO, we are not missing too much - when fit! Shoenmakers has impressed me this season down back - could be a handy option next to Gilham.

Maybe we need to look at bringing in another established KPD - but who is ever going to let a quality backmen go?

Maybe that is the way to get Mitch Thorp into the seniors AND playing well.

If we can keep fit we can kick goals and get plenty of footy. I also think we should change to a less possesion happy gameplan - buck recent trends and start kicking long and direct. Do that quickly and efficiently enough and it is hard to stop.
