I just wanted to drop a short note to say how sorry i was to hear of your Dan's passing.
He was too young.
From all the players, we would just like you to know that our thoughts are with you and we hope that the Hawthorn Football Club brought some joy to Dan's life.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you

The Board of Directors, Management, Staff and Players of the Hawthorn Football Club are saddened by the tragic loss of a member of the Hawthorn family Daniel Russo. Our deepest sympathy is extended to the Russo family at this difficult time.

Daniel died in a tragic accident at the MCG following Saturday's match against Geelong.

The Russo family would like to share these words with the Hawthorn family about their beloved Daniel.

"Daniel was the much loved son/brother/partner/best mate to many and his charismatic nature inspired us all. Daniel's unfortunate passing as a result of this tragic accident has struck us all profoundly.

"As a family, we are humbled by the outpouring of condolences and heart-felt messages. This can only be attributed to the way in which Daniel lived his life.

"For the short time that Daniel was with us, he touched so many, leaving a lasting impression and a smile that we all will never forget.

"In part this goes some way in giving us comfort to know so many people loved and cared deeply for Daniel as we as a family do."
