Round 4 last year to round 17 this year is a damn long time between drinks!

In fairness to the AFL though, had the A N Z A C day game been allocated to different sides this year I doubt the Hawks v Cats would have stood out. They would have gone with a GF replay, or if they wanted Vic sides then it would have been Geelong v Roos or Pies as they were the best from last season.

Re:Hawks v Pies Reply to this message
How about THAT! 65 point win, THREE players kicking at least 5 goals, 39 possessions to the skipper, a best on ground performance by Hodge prior to his hammy. Sewell was tough, Rioli showed some brilliance.

We had a couple of 'passengers' though. Ellis was quiet, he wasn't the only one, but he really only went through the motions on Saturday. He will need to regroup and hit his straps while Hodge is out of action.

The week off couldn't have come at a better time.

BTW, can anyone remember a season where three sides have been undefeated this many rounds in? I can't, it is fantastic and sets up some real blockbusters in comming weeks!

I'm counting the hours - less than 27 to go!

BTW - we've just cracked the 38,000 members mark!

We are a genuine chance of breaking through the 40,000 barrier - fantastic given we had never made it to 35,000 before.

Dew is available apparently. Do you know if Mitch Thorp is injured, I haven't seen his name listed for a while with Box Hill.

Biggest match of the season to date for Hawthorn!

We've played good football all season and are sitting undefeated with just one game left before the bye. But this game is vital to ensure we hit the break with confidence and we can look ahead to the Port game.

Collingwood possess all the attributes needed, IMO, to beat Hawthorn right now - they are quick, have a versatile forward line and a counter-attacking and committed backline. Hell, they are basically Hawthorn without colour!

An extra couple of days break for the Pies gives tham a real advantage, as will the likely return of Rocca. But Hawthorn received a decent wake up call last week and should be fired up and on their game.

O'Brien v Franklin, Croad v Cloke, Brown/Gilham v Medhurst/Rocca, Brown/Wakelin v Roughead/Williams at each end of the gorund will be fantastic. The midfield battle of Mitchell, Sewell, Lewis, Hodge and Crawford v the Shaws, Johnson, Thomas and O'Bree will be decisive also.

Last season these two sides produced what was my favourite game of the regular season. I thought it was played hard, yet fast and free flowing. Perfect footy IMO! I am optimistic that a similar game will unfold on Saturday in front of a massive crowd.

I'm tipping Hawthorn (d'uh!), but I doubt it will be by more than 2 goals. Franklin to be fired up and will prove the difference.
