| No Hawknut i dont think we do, our midfield is pretty strong IMO, and yes burgers your make it stronger but not a necesity.. Am so glad Browney is staying, as grunt and heart a team player is IMO what we need and have in BROWNEEYYYY!!! a ruckman would help out, or an nother defender would be great.. | please don't take this the wrong way, but if Brown's name being put on the table was not his idea I can see next yr being a little tence. If he stays I can see him doing something stupid in his 1st game next yr to try and stamp his authority to show that he is the hard-man of the club and his name should never have been put out there. If he goes I can see him doing the same thing in his 1st match against the Hawks to show them what they are missing. I would love to be proven wrong, but he is a player who gives 110% everytime he steps onto the field, he is a passionate player and hopefully for him he doesn't allow that passion to get the better of him next yr and he keeps things in check. But if its not his choice to leave then sometimes the emotions can became a big factor in the 1st meeting against the old club. Not sure why the Hawks would even trade him though, one of my fav Hawks players. He is full on but that is what you want and other then Hodge who you can never doubt the committment not sure if there are many other Hawks who put their body on the line as much as Brown does. I remember a discussion on here earlier in the yr after he was reported, he reminds me of Rooke, not the most talented player on the team, but he knows his role and you know that he will go 100% for the game. |

| THE BARRAGE of injuries to Hawthornâs big men was never more evident this year than when Campbell Brown briefly manned up on Fremantle giant Aaron Sandilands in round eight. With 34cm and 40kg separating the two, it was comical to see Brown taking on the AFLâs biggest player but at the same time it was a reflection of Hawthornâs lack of tall personnel. But Brown, who is no stranger to playing on much bigger opponents, says he is happy to rise to the challenge of punching outside his weight division. âIt can be pretty daunting sometimes. Itâs never usually too long. We get match-ups pretty right after a while,â Brown said âA lot of being a backman depends on how the pressure is further up the field. If there is pressure on the kicker coming in to the forward line then anyoneâs a chance to get it to ground and defend well.â Brown is the true utility, capable of playing on any sized player in any part of the ground. Far from feeling unsettled at having no one set role, he says he is happy to do whatever the coaching staff asks him. âWherever the coaches really need me in any particular week or quarter, Iâm happy to do that as long as it gives the side the best opportunity of winning,â he said. âIt doesnât faze me. Being forward, being back. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnât. Iâm just happy to play the team role.â Most of the injured players have returned and the Hawks are looking far more settled. They are now just outside the eight on percentage and many are tipping them to be in the finals action. But Brown said the team had its work cut out if it was to be a player in September. âThatâs our aim but we know now that because of the slow start and the way weâve played this year that weâve put ourselves in an awkward situation,â he said. âThe best part about it is itâs up to us. | AFL tribunal clears Brown, suspends Shaw Posted 59 minutes ago Map: Collingwood 3066 Hawthorn's Campbell Brown has been cleared of a rough conduct charge by the AFL tribunal. The tribunal ruled it was not satisfied Brown made forcible contact with the head of Kangaroos midfielder Daniel Wells. Brown is free to play against Port Adelaide on Saturday. But Collingwood defender Heath Shaw will miss Friday night's clash against the Lions after the tribunal suspended him for one match for intentionally making contact with an umpire. | Kudos to Renouf - saved his best game so far for the biggest stage, maybe he has something! Campbell Brown is the gutsiest player in the game - a true champ. Buddy - well, we all know about Buddy! The midfield brigade were all awesome too - Mitchell, Crawf, Hodge, Sewell, Bateman (bit sloppy early, but worked hard all night), Birchall, Young, Ladson, Ossie - all great. Well done boys, rest up and get ready for week 3! |
