| And coops, how many of those guys you just mentioned would start in the Hawks best 18? Richo, maybe - but we've got forward depth already. Brown and Bowden definately. Other than that nobody else would. Johnson isn't good enough to fit into our midfield, we have a fantastic tagger in Sewell who has finished top 3 in our B & F for the past 2 seasons. Simmonds wouldn't offer the side anything they don't get from Campbell, Taylor and Bailey who are all taller, heavier and younger, and the last thing we need is another small defender - especially one that isn't as good as the likes of Brown and Guerra! |

| Hey, I've got no problem at all with people's opinions on playing talent - we've all got them. I look at the Richmond list and I see the Hawks of about 2004. Talent is there, but still raw and void of any confidence at all. Our list is entering the period where premierships are a REALISTIC goal, right now the Tigers are a fair way off that. They can make finals (if they are VERY lucky with injuries and EVERY player plays at the top of their game ALL year). But Richmond are ZERO chance of winning a flag in the next 2 or 3 years. |

| Really? If that's what you think then that's ok, but now look at the names that will play BESIDE those youngsters - can they match the Hawks accross the entire field? I think the Hawks young guns will be aided by the experienced guys like Crawf, Hodge, Mitchell, Croad etc. Where Delidio is already amongst the leadership group - not a good sign for the club I don't think. |

| There is a lot of talk about the 'pies young list and how much talent they have, but I think we have so much more to offer than Collingwood over the next 5 years. Franklin, Roughead, Sewell, Hodge, Mitchell, Williams, Birchall, Campbell, Brown, Lewis and Bateman will be in their prime in 3-5 years, young guys like Ellis, Bailey, Young, Thorp, Morton and Muston should all (or most) be quality AFL footballers also. There are many others I'm missing also. Last year was not a fluke, it has been building up ever since Clarko took over. They have progressed EXACTLY how I predicted on these boards at the time - 2005 - 5 wins, 2006 - 8-10 wins, 2007 - 12-15 wins and finals, 2008 - 15-18 wins and a top 4 finish. From there ANYTHING is possible. I'd like to see a lot from Max Bailey in the ruck this season, and maybe see if Campbell can be used in key defensive rolls at times. There are so many options available for Clarko that I think we'll see several key players rotating positions throughout the year. Croad and Roughead will spend time at both ends of the ground, Franklin may even be used in an Adam Goodes type running roll also. Hodge, Lewis, Crawford, Ellis, Young etc are also proven goal kickers when allowed forward, so that puts even less pressure on a killer forward line - Franklin, Roughead, Williams, Dew, Thorp, Boyle etc. Boy, I nearly wet my pants then - C'MON 2008 and GO THE MIGHTY HAWKS!!!!!!!!! |

| yeah, your right about the rbrown. Loved those days as a young footballer dreaming to play next to Timmy Watson against the Hawk machine :). I was one of those bomber supporters from before that time. Since i can remember, probably 3 or 4. My mother was a bomber fan. My father spent a year in antarctica when i was 4 and i used to argue with my sisters that he was a bomber fan like me, not a pies fan like them. I was wrong...doh. Stuck with them though and that was the bombers at their lowest. In regards to supporters swithing to bombers when they were good, think that happens alot with kids. Alot of my friends started supporting the Hawks in that great era, but atleast most of them have stuck with them. After quite a few years down they are actually getting excited about footy again. |

| hey brown, was just having a look in here to see what the inside idea on the Hawks is at the moment. What is it can i ask you hate so much about essendon and its supporters. It was clear from your posts in other threads and the bombers threads, but here you bring it up to another Hawks supporter. Is it just because of the of the great challenges we had in the 80's. Is it cause the bombers went 7 seasons without a loss to the Hawks late 90's early 2000's. Is it something a bombers supporter has done to you. Just wondering cause you can never say something positive about the bombers or their past greats or current. Dont really care, was just wondering thats all. I for one have a healthy respect for the hawks and used to love our great matches of the 80's. |
