Well I am going to as many BH games this year as I can for personal reasons. I have not been since they were the Mustangs and *** Francis was the coach.

Re:new recruits Reply to this message
It's the rules mate, the Box Hill players are not registered to the AFL. If the Hawks like what they see at Box Hill they can draft them next season.

AFL lists are big enough to accomodate injury concerns, plus rookies can be elevated onto the list also.

Re:new recruits Reply to this message
That's ridiculous, what if you have so many injuries and you have guys starring at the vfl doing better than the senior players beside them?

Re:new recruits Reply to this message
Only those on the Hawks list muzza! Otherwise no, they can't. The partnership allows Hawthorn listed players to go back to Box Hill when not in the senior side, but it in no way allows Hawthorn to play Box Hill players in the AFL.

Re:new recruits Reply to this message
Was at York Park for the Swans game, from the grandstand I was impressed with the speed and athleticism of Rioli and Stokes. Both are young Aboriginal goal sneaks who I think can benefit the side by crumbing around the big boys in the forward 50.

That gives us the third dimension to our forward line after the tall timber of Franklin, Roughead, Thorp and Boyle and the mid-size leading targets of Williams and Dew. A couple of handy crumbers rounds it off nicely. rioli is the real gun though, he'll play round 1.

Re:new recruits Reply to this message
Cameron Stokes is the nephew of Andrew Mcleod. Andrew McLeod and Cameron Stokes father are cousins from his grandmothers side and his two uncles Gilbert and Adrian Mcadam are his fathers cousins from his grandfathers side so he has a great footballing pedigree also.

Re:new recruits Reply to this message
the club's first selection in the national draft, Cyril Rioli, given No. 33.

Clinton Young will move from 45 to 11, forward Mitch Thorp will use Ben Dixon's old No. 19, and Ben McGlynn will assume Vandenberg's 21.

Re:new recruits Reply to this message
Unfortunately the bombers couldnt fit Cyril Rioli into their drafting plans, as we already have plenty of similiar players and needed some bigger bodies. Relative of both Michael Long and Dean Rioli he wanted to go to the bombers but missed out. Goodluck to him at the Hawks though. With his bloodlines and from the sound of him he could be a very handy player.

Re:new recruits Reply to this message
did afford myself a rye smile rbrownz when the Hawks drafted the 'King' Stew Dew .gees he'd make a fair Elvis impersonator. Just imagine your reaction had any other club taken him. He's that big i think you should be made to delist 3 other players to fit him on ya senior list.

But good luck hope he goes alright , bit concerned for some of your young guys though , Dew may eat them.
Hope they (hawthorn) are sensible and give him a slimming number , something like.... 108 would i think fit across his back nicely.

As much as I hate Port Power (living in Adelaide) I always liked Stuart Dew, and thanks to Clarko ( and Stewy and his woman breaking up) we have resurrected his career...we need some experience alongside Crawf since Smiffy, Vanders and *** o retired
