Another four rounds at par or under, another top ten finish, another pay cheque.
Go Cambo, you're on a roll! |

No, but he shot all four rounds of the KLM Open without breaking par, which is quite an achievement for him.
Let's hope he's turned the corner - he shot par for the first round of the Johnnie Walker yesterday. |

Stop your whingeing all of you!!! Like it or not, some people enjoy playing golf, some like watching golf. But I think most people hate reading about mud-slinging and whingeing in public forums.
I am not a NZ/kiwi, but I have to say that Campbell has done well in the past and continues to slog it out in the professional ranks. It is a difficult life to be a professional golfer, staying in form and winning a few dollars each week in tournaments. All those who play any kind of sport should/would recognise how hard it is to concentrate during one game, let alone a whole season or a lifetime!
Campbell, IBF, Norman, Daly, etc. - they have highlights and very lowlights in their careers. But they are there doing what they love. All of us have a choice to stop watching and following a sport or a sportsman.
Some people in this forum should just find something that they love and go and do that. It is sad if 'whingeing' is what they love and they keep *** ging off at various people in this forum. (Is there a moderator in this forum who would cut off this discussion?) |

| Maybe you should go back and read what has been said "Michael Campbell is an Embarassment and a Loser". AND of course it is nzrons opinion, he would hardly be giving someone elses opinion would he. Before you start ripping other peoples opinions apart maybe you should read what they have to say and stop sticking up for another toss-pot. |

| If you read the whole thread ladies, you'll find he was saying in his opinion, Campbell has lost the desire and wont win another major tournament. Nothing was mentioned about his ability I believe. |

| Oh newzealandron you really are a tosser why would Michael be embarrassed ? Doesn't consistently finish "At the bottom of the field" as you suggest. Maybe you should concentrate on your own game and stop harping on in drivel about someone who is OBVIOUSLY BETTER at the gams that you are. |

| I wouldn't mind going the same way as IBF - win the British Open, become a millionaire, make a motza every year with CBS Sports, and still play golf regularly with celebrities in the USA. Yeah, tough life! |

Having met Norman on 2 occasions I found him to be far from rude. Mind you he doesn't suffer fools lightly. He conducted himself professionally and with good humour.
Michael Campbell's biggest problem right now is a condition that can be death to a golfer:
" Paralysis by a n a lysis"
I saw him interviewed on a recent episode of the PGA Golf Show by Brett Ogle. Even Brett had to struggle to keep a straight face.
Michael just needs to refocus on the KISS principle
If he doesn't then he will go the same way as
Ian Baker-Finch |

| if you think that then you have NEVER met him. Where was it and what year? What day play was it? Get stuffed, Greg Norman is not rude, he is far from it. He has given so much time of his in previous years to junior development of Australian golf, and has always made him self available to sponsors and fans. |

Whooooo..... hang on Ron, I just had a brilliant idea. Lets just send people to the olympics this year who we know will win GOLD medals, that way you can be really proud of New Zealand and no-one will embarrass you.
Sounds like just the sort of thing you would like to happen, hell you better petition the sports minister, you could be a hero and think of the money the tax payer could save......... Do you want Trevors email address??? |

newzealandron WHO, sorry I've never heard of you but the World has heard of Michael Cambell, who is doing his "Job" and probably earning a S... load more than you do in a year. Could there be some stubborn jealousy involved in your benign comments? I work overseas and am proud to mention Michael Cambell in conversation as a fellow KIWI.
I think he has recognition that you don't so you are being spiteful in such a childish fashion and have lost sight of who we are, presuming you are actually a born and raised NEW ZEALANDER. |

Golf: Kiwis start poorly at European Open
9:05AM Friday July 04, 2008
Michael Campbell and Mark Brown have had disastrous opening rounds at the European Open at the London Club in Kent.
Campbell is near the tail of the field after a five over par 77, while Brown is only slightly better off after a three over par 75. |

Golf: Campbell makes early exit at US Open
2:33PM Saturday June 14, 2008
New Zealand golfer Michael Campbell was put out of his misery when failing to make the cut after the second round of the US Open in San Diego today.
Campbell has yet another weekend off after his second round of 12-over-par 83 left him towards the bottom of the field in the second major of the year.
The 2005 US Open champion entered the tournament following an extended run of wretched form and never threatened to reverse his fortunes after posting 78 in the first round.
The omens were not good from the first hole today, which he bogeyed, and he repeated that at the third.
An early departure from the picturesque Torrey Pines course was confirmed when Campbell then bogeyed four holes in succession from the fifth.
Worse followed on the back nine, as he shelled six shots in a stretch of five holes from the 11th.
Campbell completed his 36 holes in 19-over 161, with just one birdie to his name, to trail the leader, Australian Stuart Appleby, by 22 shots. |

I ran across this thread trying to find out what had happened to the good-natured Kiwi. Watching golf in the states sometimes it's hard to keep up with those who play abroad.
I have to agree with NZR that once you attain a certain level of recognition (one that maybe he himself never thought he'd attain) it is very hard to avoid the temptation of money and maybe lose that edge that is required to stay at the top of a world full of people who would like to play golf for a living. Once it is gone it is almost impossible to retain - Steve Stricker a noticeable example.
While I detest complacency and laziness, I do wish him well. |

New Zealand golfer Michael Campbell reached a new career low after recording two straight rounds of 80 and exiting the prestigious BMW PGA Championship on the Wentworth course near London.
Campbell's 16-over par tally saw him placed second-last in the 4.5 million Euro ($NZ9.17 million) event, two shots shy of last placed Michael Jonzon of Sweden - who Campbell defeated in a playoff to win the 2003 Irish Open.
Fellow Kiwi Mark Brown also won't be in the final rounds after shooting a 71 to miss the cut by one stroke after a triple-bogey 75 in the first round.
It's the first time in nearly 300 events competing on the European tour that Campbell has recorded back-to-back rounds in the 80s.
He has been no stranger to recording scores above 80 this year though, having carded rounds of 81 and 83 five weeks ago in missing the cut in the US PGA Tour's Houston Open.
Campbell's second round in the European Tour flagship event in Surrey once again was a mixture of dropped shots and far too few birdies.
He ended his day with a double bogey after earlier taking eight bogeys including five dropped shots in succession from the ninth hole.
Campbell arrived at Wentworth looking to end a 31-month winless drought since he beat Ireland's Paul McGinley in the final of the 2005 HSBC Match Play Championship on the same England layout.
McGinley, 41, leads this tournament by two strokes. He birdied the 17th before holing a 30-foot eagle putt at the last today to go 13-under par.
New Zealand Open winner Richard Finch, who was paired with Campbell for the opening two rounds, said Campbell was trying his best but was "unfortunately struggling ... |
