Ron, something is seriously wrong with you and I'm embarrassed for you! Are you sure you can't get the attention you crave from another source?
It's sad and disturbing that you have to resort to name calling and character assassination of one of New Zealand’s greatest golfers and sportsman, whom in his career has represented NZ at the junior and senior level, first Kiwi to win the Australian amateur championship, In the NZ team that won the Eisenhower Trophy, Named Rookie of the year, First Ever Kiwi to win the U.S Open and in the same year finished 5th in the British open and 6th in the PGA Championship and won the most prize money ever by a golfer at the HSBC World Matchplay, Won NZ Sportsman of the Year, Opened up the Michael Campbell Foundation to help inspiring and motivating young people, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds.
MC has over 15 tour wins, multiple top five and ten spots, has finished in the top 10 on the European order of merit, ranked as low as 14th in the world and is a great ambassador for NZ and NZ golf.
So it's offensive to see you belittle a great New Zealander that has done more before breakfast than you a sorry excuse for a human being has done in his whole life, just because he is in a rough patch.
I'm embarrassed that you are a Kiwi.
MC will win again! |

The reason he has restrictions placed on him is that in 2003, when he had a card to the US, he quit after just 11 tournaments. As he had not played the minimum 15 events, he was then banned from joining the Tour for five years.
Though since he won the US Open it's my understanding he could rejoin automatically if he agrees to play the 15 events per year, a requirement he is not prepared to commit to as his two children attend school for six months in England and he and his wife do not want to uproot them.
MC will only be allowed to play the four majors, the three WGC championship events plus three others. Ernie was also banned for not completing the then 20 events required to play, but gathered support from other foreign players and threatened to walk so the U.S PGA reduced it to 15 events, which I'm sure made Tiger happy.
I hope he does well in the players as well and that he does try to play in the U.S more, though he has always been and stated his loyalty to the European tour and has stayed there even though it has slowly lost a lot of it's big names to the U.S tour, he feels it's his duty to support the tour that he nurtured him and likes the tour as it's close to his family, you can't fault him on that. More people should be more family orientated.
He does get exemption for 10 years in the U.S Open as a winner. |

| I didn't realise he was limited by any restrictions. Damn! Do you know how long this restriction applies? Or is he to be punished for life? I recall Ernie had similar troubles - something to do with his wanting to play the European tour as well. Unless Michael plays more in the States I worry he will fall out of the Top 50 and lose the US invites this status gets him now. As far as I'm aware he hasn't played a tournament since the Masters and in my view that simply isn't enough to keep his game competitive at the top level. Even Tiger has appeared at The Wachovia at Quail Creek this week to get his game in order for next week's Players. Having said that I hope Michael proves me wrong and posts a high finish at The Players next week. Or perhaps Craig Perks will return from virtual obscurity? Now THAT would give us something to talk about, eh!? |

Unfortunately I think MC would love to play more in the U.S but as far as I am aware he is still under restrictions on the amount of tournaments he is allowed to play for an earlier infringement of the U.S PGA rules.
Honestly at this stage I think he would prefer to play more in the U.S and less on the European tour. |

Michael needs to play more or this often purile cyber-conjecture will never be resolved. In other words he needs to lose more (and I think he must do so in the US) before he can win more. Look at Ernie struggling at the moment, but who doubts he will will again?
By the way, Ron: Will you be happy to proven right? Do you really hope Michael never wins again? Over and above vindicating you, I'm not sure that would have any beneficial affect for anyone or anything ... least of all the future of New Zealand golf. |

Yes Dennis we all realise MC won the U.S Open in 2005. This thread is about one person giving MC grief about not winning since.
Any mention of the U.S Masters is in relation to the U.S Masters just played.
Hope this clears it up for you? |

As usual Ron you give false information.......If I'm correct Hillary is 88?
You just always spout incorrect statements, will you ever say something that is correct and worth listening too?
I presume you will ignore this as well as other clarification questions you've conveniently ignored. |

| STOP MAKING EXCUSES JASON. everytime hes fails (like every event) you keep taking about the others who did not make it too. Thats just BS. We are taking about MC. Face it hes done. How can you keep supporting him when he hasnt won anything for 2 years over countless events. Face it hes through. At what point are you going to say you know ron you are right. Is it going to take another 10 events, 20, 30. Or in 5 years will you still be like hes going to win sometime Ron. If he has not won by the end of 2007 you need to send me an apology ok. Thats the deal. BUT one I know you wont make as you know he wont win. You know it but just can not say it out loud. |

Lots of golfers miss the cut at the Masters as it is the only Major to be played at the same venue every year. The Course dosen't suit some players.
Fred Funk has missed the cut in like the last 3 or four masters as well. |

Ron if you going to single out people for not making the Masters Cut, name them all.
Colin Montgomerie,Chris DiMarco,Darren Clarke,Sergio Garcia,Chad Campbell,Ernie Els,Thomas Bjorn,Nick O'Hern,Robert Allenby.
And the people whom made the cut by one shot at 8 over par.
Charles Howell III,Adam Scott,Fred Couples,Angel Cabrera,Retief Goosen.
All these guys are as you say "boys among men" I say they are all pathetic and should retire, useless! If they can't win all the time they are embarrassing.
Yeah Ron sounds pretty pathetic ay! Everyone has your number and knows, you are really the pathetic embarrassing one that you talk about. Emotional transfer. Well at least you have us chatting with you, that’s the whole idea isn’t it? |

Jason. FYI Agaoin you are talkng about MC getting 2nd. Tiger considers 2nd as losing. Thats why he is a winner. The allblacks consider 2nd in the world cup as losing. Lets also not forget the NZ open had one of the weakest fields ever.
Seen the results of the Masters? hmmm I see no one commented. Thats becuase its a class field, and MC is now just a boy amongst men. |

Michael Campbell has a nervous wait to see whether he will make the cut at golf's US Masters in Augusta.
The New Zealand number one has fired a second round 77 and coupled with a 76 on day one, is nine over par for the tournament, 12 shots behind the leader American Zach Johnson.
The cut is currently projected at seven over so Campbell will be hoping it blows out to ensure he is around for the weekend |

| Anyone who has seen Michael play — even recently — knows he will win again and again. Right now he's swinging too fast and notching up triple and double bogeys in every second round. However, let's not forget that he has been written off before — in the lean period after his wrist injury — and he came back better than ever. He will rise again if he persists and (I think) plays a few more tournaments. I'm not at all sure taking 4-5 weeks off at a time is good for his competitive edge. Then again it may well be good for his soul. Just accept that Michael is a sublimely talented but streaky player and wish him the best, because his best is a good as it gets. |
