| MC did well, a lot of very good golfers failed to play this course! If MC can shoot par or a couple under for the next two rounds he could jump up this board, I think the winning score may be around 5 over. |

| Whew! He made the cut despite a double bogey on his last hole (9th). Looking at his score cards at this cruel course there are many encouraging signs despite the rogue doubles. A win will be hard from his position at T51 but a Top Ten is possible and would delight us all. Wouldn't it? |

Greens were very slow at Celtic Manor. Not sure it was the best preparation for the US Open. However, he made the cut and that can only be good despite his indifferent weekend. By the way everyone, Ernie Els hasn't won for ages, does anyone think he'll never win again? Remember folks, Michael went missing for quite a while after his unforgettable British Open showing. He came back with a vengeance. He will again.

Thanks Jason. He made the cut in Wales and is only two strokes back despite missing some very gettable putts on slow greens. Seems to be swinging at a better pace and appears quite relaxed. Let's see how he get's through the weekend. Either way, the signs are very promising.

John good to hear some sensible talk on this thread and maybe your words have inspired MC as he is doing well at this weeks Celtic Manor Wales Open.
I have no doubt also MC will show the form we know he has! |

Jason,
You're doing a sensational job of defending Michael against Ron's inanities, but it's time to let Michael do the talking with his clubs. NOT because he has to prove anything to Ron or to you or me, but because he belongs in the upper echelon of golf. Anyone who is a student of the game and has seen Michael play at his best knows this. On more than one occasion I've been at the practice range at professional golf tournaments here in Australia and seen other pros watching Michael practice, proving even his peers recognise his awesome abilities. Right now he seems lost. Personally I think he's swinging too fast perhaps seeking extra distance. (Striving for the latter killed Ian Baker Finch's game). He may even need to consider a new coach — it worked for Tiger and Mickelson — but since he's a very loyal person (sticking with the European tour, continuing to support New Zealand golf at his own cost and building his life around his family not his ambition) he'll probably struggle through this with Jonathon Yardwood. BUT HE WILL GET THROUGH THIS. Let's not forget that early this year he missed some cuts by only one shot, and this was almost always due to a couple of horrendous holes. However the few TV glimpses I caught of him at the Players and even at Wentworth showed he is still more than capable of hitting sensational shots. I have no doubt whatsoever he will put it all together again within the next few months.
As for Ron, who is he and why are we crossing swords with him? Any man who takes delight in being proven right by the failure of someone else deserves utter disdain if not pity.
Take care,
John |

<<I doubt he could win at minigolf against a 5 year old. >>
Those little kids really know their way around a mini putt course so that wouldn't be surprising! |

Ron sounds like your parents never let you compete in anything when you were young incase you didn't win? Sad!
You said MC will never win again, you cannot say you are right until he has retired from competitive golf, and if he retires from golf and has not won I will be the first to say your were correct, but we are no where near that scenario yet, and as you so conveniently ignored, every other of your predictions that I listed you have been wrong in, so I have no doubt you will be wrong in this.
Ka Kite ano Ron. |

| NZRon, I have said it before I dont like you style, but it it time you get credit where credit is due. Michael has done nothing, and indeed as you say he has not won again, and being realilistic he is not going to. YOUR RIGHT, you have won, I bow to you oh master. But really what does it prove? I hope he wins again so you can return the bow my friend. |

| Jason of course I will respond. I much as expected MC's mindless drones to come out swinging. Have you ever heard the expression "beating a dead horse". Well that sums up MC perfectly. He is truly dead and buried and is just now embarassing himself. I doubt he could win at minigolf against a 5 year old. I done want him representing NZ anymore it just embarassing the country with his pathetic play and medley of excuses. |

Ron you have been and always will be incorrect in every aspect of your life (I'm sure your ex wife will agree with this).
"I am proven right week after week" How have you been proven right? You have stated that MC will never win again and in your words " He will be out of the game in 12 months or less" (25/02/06) so it's well over 12 months and he's still playing and you can't say he will never win again until his playing careers is over, so on your main points your are wrong.
"Will miss the cut in every event for the rest of the year"(1/06/07) He made most his cuts for the rest of 2006 and finished in the top five in tournaments. Wrong Again.
"He will be out of golf by the end of the year citing an "injury". (17/06/06) Still playing, wrong again!
"He will never make another professional cut. He is through"(28/06/07) Wrong again!
"Yeah and Hillary will climb Mt Everest again at 90 years old" Wrong Age Buddy!
Ron there are so many incorrect statements, but I didn't want to spend my weekend copy and pasting them all, also the other apparent bad quality you have is you ignore and never answer challenges that are presented to you when you are faced with your inconsistencies. And I fully expect you not to respond to this as well. I can't blame you though, it’s a flaw in your character you can't help it.
And it's "Kia ora" you twit, you are truly embarrassing! |

Golf: Campbell just can't get it right
Page 1 of 2 7:35AM Saturday May 26, 2007
A pair of closing hole birdies was of little comfort to Michael Campbell who easily missed the cut in the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth near London.
Campbell carded rounds of 78 and 75 for a disappointing nine-over par tally on the famed West Course, the Surrey County where he last tasted success in the 2005 HSBC World Match-Play Championship.
It is also the third event in succession Campbell has missed a halfway cut after he carded rounds of 75 and 79 in the Players Championship in Florida whilst he sat out the weekend rounds of the Irish Open after scores of 77 and 76.
Campbell's second round in the flagship European Tour event seemed off to a bright note when he birdied fourth and fifth holes to get his score back to six over par.
But it came horribly unstuck when he bogeyed the eighth and then recorded a bizarre quadruple bogey eight at the par four ninth hole. Campbell's second shot flew the green and landed in bushes from where Campbell tried to play a one handed shot backwards and standing with his back to the hole.

AdvertisementBut the ball struck his foot and thus incurring a two-stroke penalty.
He dropped a further shot at the 13th but managed to birdie the 14th ahead of three-putting the 16 th for a double bogey before ending with birdie fours at the closing pair of par fives.
"It is just ridiculous my game at the moment and I just don't know what is going on," said Campbell.
"I just don't believe my scores are any reflection of how well I am playing and it is just one of those things where I have to be patient with it and hopefully I will soon get to see some light at the end of the tunnel.
"I am just not getting any breaks at the moment because if your game is on song, you are holing putts from 30, 40 or 50 feet but if you're struggling you find yourself missing putts from two, three or four feet. |

Golf: Pain continues for Campbell
8:22AM Friday May 25, 2007
LONDON - Michael Campbell's golfing misery continues after he produced his highest ever score in the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth near London today.
Campbell recorded two double bogeys in his opening three holes ahead of trudging off with a horror six-over par 78, leaving him in 138th place and 12 shots off the lead.
It is his worst score in 37 rounds of the European Tour's flagship event and two shots more than a prior worst round of 76 on day two of the 2005 championship.
His score continues an embarrassing downturn in Campbell's game, having missed the cut in his last three events.
Despite four days under the watchful eye of long time coach Jonathon Yarwood, Campbell was in trouble from the outset when he pulled his tee shot way right into trees at Wentworth's opening hole. He shot a double-bogey six |

Golf: Campbell out of Irish Open
Two disappointing rounds from Michael Campbell dashed his hopes of making the cut for the Irish Open today.
Campbell was cut from the euro2.5 ($4.69) million event with rounds of 77 and 76 for a nine over par tally on the Adare Manor course just south of Limerick.
It is the second week in succession Campbell has been cut from an event after he posted scores of 75 and 79 in last week's Players Championship in Florida.
I enjoyed reading this press statement. You knew I would comment.
How embarassing MC. Give if up for god sake you are embarrasing Maoris, NZ , your family and yourself! |
