Those were comments from the French Open. Wow a goof. I see he is now in 58th place in the European Open and project to miss the cut. Uh huh. yep just the usual.

Re:Michael Campbell is through Reply to this message
Cambo had superbly muscled his way to a three stroke leading advantage when he carved his tee shot at the par four, 17th well right of the fairway to clear a hospitality tent and land out-of-bounds.

There was then a further bizarre twist and more confusion when McFee asked Cambo the location of his third ball that had gone into the rough.

Cambo then recorded a triple-bogey seven with the second ball and an eight with the third with the New Zealander taking close to 40 minutes to eventually play the hole.

Re:Michael Campbell is through Reply to this message
Since I started this message board thought I should finish it. MC is projected to miss the cut again today. A failure yet again. He clearly has some talent, but I wonder why he can not seem to be getting mentally focused to take it to the next level. His decision to cut back on events is not a good one a a player like him needs to play more not less. A few more dissapointing events like today and things will cave in and spiral downwards. I agree with nzron that he wont win again, but dont agree he wont make the cut, clearly he will, but I am guessing only 50% of the time. Vijay Singh is another who I think is now well past there best

Re:Michael Campbell is through Reply to this message
also newzealandron I do know what I'm taking about in regards to Golf. You says 37th place is embrassing! Look at the results of the players ranked in the top 5 in the world. Mickelson this year had a 38th & 35th. Goosen had a 62nd & 48th. Furky had a 33rd & 27th and Vijay has had a 36th,38th,48th and 38th Placing. By your calculations most of the top players will retire with injury within 12 months...That would suck!!

Re:Michael Campbell is through Reply to this message
I noticed you only mentioned the 37th placing not any of the others including the 1st Placing at the World Matchplay. You and your 5 handicap missed the whole point. You ignored your own remarks of "Barely making cuts" and "Will miss the cut in every event for the rest of the year", and "he will never make another professional cut. He is through" everything you have said has already been shown as utter Cr**p, and there's no refuting the stats here. MC is very much a mind orientated player, it is all in the mind for him as he already has the game, so you should realise he is a perfectionist so he won't give up until he reaches the height that he thinks he should be at, which is at the top.I will not have to wait 12 months to again prove you wrong, it be at the end of the month after the Open, I'm not saying he will win it but he will be there. And if you are proven correct in 12 months I will say well done you were right, only if you have the integrity to do the same, also I don't have to resort to name calling to get my point across...think about it!!

Re:Michael Campbell is through Reply to this message
Jason you t w a t , you obviously dont understand golf. 37th, you should be embrassed to even put that down as a result. He is a one major win wonder never to repeat that feat again. He will soon be forgotten, his play will faulter (as usual) and he will retire siteing injury. Mark my words. Come back and make a comment in 12 months when he is not playing anymore. Go back into your hole buddy.

Re:Michael Campbell is through Reply to this message
Sorry Dr Freud but you need facts to base you opinions on and I think actions speak loader than words....or thoughts!! "So Satisfied with the U.S Open that he does not pocess the drive to repeat it" Since the U.S Open in 2005 he was 25th European Open, 5th British open, 14th players Championship Europe, 6th U.S PGA Championship, 36th German Masters, 46th Amex Championship, 1ST!!! World Matchplay, 14th Volvo Masters....Then so far in his events in 2006 5th British Masters, 12th Irish open, 37th BMW Championship, 3rd Open De France and is 25th on the european Money List. This is a record any profesional golfer would love to have and also too point out he's already won since the U.S Open at the Largest money offered in Golf!! Just to refresh you memory on your comments "Mike has been playing terrible. Barely making cuts and putting so poorly." , "Will miss the cut in every event for the rest of the year", "he will never make another professional cut. He is through" As I said before you're kinda SAD!

"he will never make another professional cut. He is through"

He made the cut and was in contention till the 72nd hole. I'd say that is pretty good. Ok, so he didn't close the deal, but he will not be the last one to mess it up on the last hole. His record shows that he is a streaky player... in any case, highs and lows are common in golf.

Re:Michael Campbell is through Reply to this message
Sorry you don't know what you talking about "mate". I'm a golfer with a handy but not spectacular 5 handicap. My topic was not about what he "has done" but what he will do. I've meet him a couple of times and was amazed last year what his thoughts were. He is so satisfied with the US open that he does not pocess the drive to repeat it. After talking with him I am convinced that Mentally he is though and so far I'm right hes been shocker.... He will never win another event as he doesn;t have the mental strenght needed at that level.

Sounds like a lot a fat armchair sportsman who get a sweat going will drinking beer and are probabley only watching golf because they lost the remote and can't manage to get off their a*se to change the channel. MC has done more in one of his wins than you will in your entire life and you realise this so you write stupid things on these forums....SAD...!!

Love too. He was leading the French open at the final hole and knocked it into the water. He just hasn't got it mentally anymore.

Mike has been playing terrible. Barely making cuts and putting so poorly. He will not make the cut in the US Open, will miss the cut in every event for the rest of the year, compain about being injured and will be out of the game soon after. You read it here first.

Michael has just gone from bad to worst. Hes also mad the HUGE mistake of not playing and hasn't played much in months. Hes not the srt of player who can do that. I doubt he will make the cut in any event the rest of the year.

Don't agree he is through. After he won the US Open he had top 10 in the next 2 majors and won the world match play. He is just coming into his own.

Re:Michael Campbell is through Reply to this message
Sorry. Much as I dont want to admit it. I think LAis4me is right. I saw M/C in Auckland, hes already out of it mentally now. He is so happy to be the US open winner that if he nothing else he will be ok with that. Carrying that attitude with ensure he remains winless. He will be out of the game in 12 months or less. But then again he has millions and who wouldnt want to be retired at 35ish? Its a pity cause he could have been so much better.

Re:Michael Campbell is through Reply to this message
Michael is not the first player whos form has gone off after winning a major nor will he be the last.
He needs to make sure he gets back to doing the practice that got him his first major last year.
The increase in off course commitments nearly always has a negative effect on a player, that is why so very few players have more than 3 career majors.
It is also what makes Tiger Woods such a phenomenon in the modern day game.
He has set himself such high goals and is so single minded
that he just doesnt seem to become sidetracked.
Its that same mental toughness that makes him so formidible
on the course!

Michael Campbell is through Reply to this message
So Michael was leading by six shots, end up blowing it yet again! What is it about him. He has the skills but not consistantly, his head is the problem and that is the reason he will never win a championship major, or for that matter any professional tournament again. He just does not have what it takes. Mark my words this will be the worst year he has, he is a one win wonder and will be out of th sport in 18 months. You rad it here first.
