Re: Tiger Woods here's my two cents worth:
TW openning day 74 cost him the Tournament, his last four holes on the first day are the difference between being even par and being in the lead on the final round.
Duval played great, and good on him, Phil once again after climbing all the way to the top could not clinch it.
The Bethpage is a course that does not forgive a mistake, one bad shot does not necessarily give you a bogey, but if you have a bad shot on any hole it would need either 2, 3 or 4 excellent shots to save par, with the exception of maybe 4 holes, par was the score to aim for every day, of course the weather made the tournament difficult. It also made the golf course play a bit easier than it would have if there was no rain - Glover deserved to win, he took advantage of the softened conditions, and scored well in his first 2 days, INHO the '09 U S Open it was OK at least I enjoyed it. |

"based on Woods present form I would say The Open is really OPEN to anyone..."
_________________________ _________________________ _________
Actually he has been in very good form
Top 10 finishes in EVERY stroke event he has played this year so far.....9th in the FedEx cup standings.
The ONLY thing that has cost him has been his putting.
He has been over reading putts and its cost him just over a stroke each round.
That will come together by The Open |

I dont feel that tiger will win theBritish Open, or at least the next 2 big ones.
Why?,
I think he will need to slightly adjust to his recent knee operation,(albeit minor).
And I think this will just slightly put him, as great as he is, off his "top" game.
As I se written below, and take note, even when he is off his top game he is still hard to beat, but I would be backing Phil or Adam before Tiger, just at the moment.
As for an outsider,(with no disrespect to him), I would look at Justin to get up |

Being a golfer myself I would love to be as good as tiger is now, whom you consider to be a spent force.
He wasnt anywhere near his game in the masters and still came second.?
Where Garcia has had many opportunities already to win in majors but has an achilles heel in regards to the pressure of the fourth and final round.
So I suggest you do a little more background research on whatever you think you know because you are not up to Par. |

Look for all you "Spent Force" and "mind not on job" fools go back to following some other sport, cause you all know sweet F.A. about golf. Tiger came 2nd in the Masters for crying out loud averaging 30 putts a round.
His mind is there
His putting was a little off for the week
Now as to the question of the British Open
1 The course suits his game
2 If he is even 90% on he will win
3 Assuming the above he can be beaten by someone who just has a great week
Thats what happened at the Masters Immulman has a good week ball striking, gets a couple of great breaks eg 15th on Saturday, and makes a couple of great putts eg 11th on Sunday
I think Tiger has a better shot at the US Open, the British and the USPGA. Those courses absolutely suit his game and he will go into them VERY CONFIDENT
The way they set the Masters up now is atrocious. They have taken the spirit and soul out of the course. Bobby Jones must be rolling in his grave at how his dream course has been r a p e d of its real beauty, shot selection for risk V reward.
The back nine is now a mere shadow of the great course it was. Sure its pretty to look at but it has become so exact and tough that shot decision making on the par 5's has been removed. The risk for reward has been replaced by on many ocassions LUCK
That is not the course that Jones envisioned.
And please don't talked to me about technology improvements.
They had it close to right 5 years ago. In the last 2-3 years especially the course committee have screwed it up! |

| If you haven't already noticed, Tiger Woods has lost to others before. No doubt he is one of the greatest players of the game, but can be beaten. I beleive he will win the British Open due to his current form. |

| If Woods is on his game he will win,He is simply better than every one else when he is on.saying that you do get sick of the same guy winning everything, and it would be good for golf if the guy had a serious rival, but at this stage he hasnt. |
