I didn't tip with my heart when it came with the bombers and I almost got 100% with tipping them the ones I got wrong were the richmond game and the eagles game ... if only the umpire pinned the eagles player for tripping lucas as he was going for that goal! ;) (I think I would have got eight that round too!)

hey king, yeah i might just do that. Good job last year, there were some pretty tough rounds to pick. I came in the top 1000 on the bombers site, but only about 800 or something. Not so bad out of i think about 5000, but i was quite a few tips behind the top guys.
An advantage for us would be if the bombers do outweigh general expectation, as many are predicting us for only a handful of wins. Hopefully they tip that way too. Then again it could be my downfall if they do go that bad :)

A good hitout for the boys today. Hoping its played on bomber tv so i can watch, but sounds like the standout was Courtney Dempsey. They have been talking about his fitness, speed and skills all summer as its his first pre season without injury. This kid could be a real excitement machine along with Davey and Jetta. Apparently McVeigh continued his good form from last year which is great as he will need to stand up and fill Hirdy's role as the experienced midfielder. Knights said he will get alot more time there and in more attacking role. McPhee got more time in the front half and was solid. Only other news from stories o've seen is Davey had his great skills on display, Johns lead and marked strongly, and a few of the young guys showed promising signs. All up sounds pretty good, and no injuries reported at this point. Lloydy missed the game with tightness in his hamstring and most likey wont play against Brissie next week. Thats a pity but atleast will give some more chances for some of these young fella's.

i agree auswatto...Bombers, Dees and the Tigers all seem to be totally ridden off for 2008...Me i am not to sure about that, i think all three could give the 8 a real good shake...and Matty Knights IMO could be the coach find of the past few years...Good luck to the Bombers

Hye aus, i was wondering where you were when I responded to that post. I was also surprised to think hang on there is a 3rd bombers supporter on here!

Ahh would have been too good to be true haha

Everyone is writing us off and have us down for the wooden spoon! we might have lost Hird but we have some exciting up and commers, Jetta is apparently going really well so if he can build on what he did last year and Davey does the same that will be 2 players that will be exciting and hopefully Lovett will have his mind on the job!

exciting times!

hey King. That was actually me starting the thread. Didnt realise the wife was signed in. Been a bit quiet for a while cause its pretty much all the same old talk over the off season. Starting to get a bit of excitement again now we're drawing closer to the action. Not sure how we're gunna go, but im sure they will play some exciting footy.

Well, its 2 weeks til our first intraclub practice match and then the following week its the NAB cup opener against Brissie.
Really looking forward to it as there has been much said about the bombers and Knights over the off season, mostly negative. Fair enough from an opposition supporter i suppose but really cant see them dropping so far off the mark. Comments about the list being completely talentless or shiite as some have put it seem to be very uneducated to me. They pushed most of the top teams last year and not just off Hirds boot. There was alot of exciting play from the pacey young midfielders, and we were one of the higher scoring teams last year. The emphasis on skills and defensive pressure over the preseason highlights the major deficiency from last year, and i think we will see improvement there.
We still have one of the best spines in the comp, and there are a few recruites from the last few years like Lee and Neagle who have been hurt by injury but should be good to go this year. I have a good feeling about Neagle. Mal started to find his feet more towards the end of last year, and with a full preseason under his belt should be alot better from game 1.
Injuries could hurt us this year, but in a year or 2 we will have good depth. Even this year we should be ok unless we are really unlucky with key injuries.
The loss of Hird and starting under a new coach will be unsettling of course, but it can also add freshness and motivation to succeed as a new list in a new era. I actually think we will see one the the bombers most versatile lists develop over the next few years.
As we saw last year, no team can be written off before the season starts. Many had the Cats out of finals and the Roos in the cellar. The comp after Geelong is just too close to call. My opionion before the start of the season-Bombers will give the 8 a shake again. Whether its 4th or 10th i have no idea, i just dont think they are bad enough to be in the cellar.
