| It's the Dragons now.. I was a "steeler" but face facts this is my team now.. just get on with it.. | I have to say that I was dissapointed when St George took over the Steelers. Initially I tried to see it sa a merge, but time proved that it wasn`t. The year after I became a Knights fan, and haved loved it ever since. I also like watching the cowboys do their magic! |

| Re. the saints & steelers merge I will never fully get over "the takeover".When the team goes well it's the saints that did it, when it goes bad all of a sudden the merge is remembered even if it is only as a cancer as Chesterton puts it.I still have a season ticket because as we all know we are still watching a mainly Illawarra team. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| It was interesting to see Ray Chestertons column about What is happening to the Saints.In it he regards Illawarra as"RUGBY LEAGUE SOCIAL CLIMBERS" a mere tumour growing off St George.If he has the typical Saints attitude then it just shows why the ILLAWARRA bit is there.For years there success was built on Illawarra local talent and since the introduction of the Steelers they have won NOTHING.Wake up Wollongong and see YOUR real RED V Saints attitude.SOCIAL CLIMBERS?????? | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| I think the large junior nursery the dragons have at their disposal ,is one of the reasons that they constantly let top experienced players go,why pay big money for an established player,when you can bring a promising junior through for a fraction of the money,they risk they take by doing it,is the young blokes are being thrown in at the deep end,as supporters we can only hope they can unearth a few stars that can handle the rise to first grade,on a regular basis. Sadly in this tough competion nothing beats experience. |

| Saints produced one immortal, Reg Gasnier and can lay claim to John Raper although Raper came from Newtown to Saints and moved to Saints local area as was required in those days to qualify to play for a club. No other Sydney or NRL club has produced an immortal.
