By 'our' I meant the 'coalition of the willing' or whatever the fark Bush called it! While you and I are innocent, our government is not - exactly the same as the vest, vast, vast majority of middle eastern people that are condemned by the brainless masses that cannot separate the actions of a few from the general beliefs of the majority.
I trust our intelligence agencies to pick up these prospective terrorist attacks, as they did yesterday. Average Joe (or Mohammad) that immigrates into this country deserves to be treated with the same respect that you or I would expect.
As for boat people, I have a hell of a lot of respect for their plight, most are Hazaras - these are amongst the most oppressed people on Earth, fleeing their homes (and families) because the alternative is certain death via the Taliban. They know nothing of 'proper procedure' or whatever queue they are apparently jumping! |

This current lot are Somalian and condone extreme measures and the introduction and implementation of Sharia law.
Whether or not they would have been able to ever carry out any intended threat isnt the only consideration. Lets credit the guys at Holdsworthy base with a little more intelligence and expertise than what the media are - they would have had it covered. The fact that there is an element within our society that wishes to perpetuate this archaic , primitive law and promote it within the mainstream culture is whats more worrying than a couple of gutless little pr!/cks that want to matyr themselves.
On that principle alone they deserve to be jailed. |

Nev, our actions in the 'war on terrorism' are actually making like easier for these terrorist groups.
Think about this. Saudi and Iranian men, with Saudi money, hijack a couple of planes and kill thousands by flying them into buildings.
The US responds by invading Saudi Arabia? No, Iran? No, they invade Iraq and Afghani5tan!
When the September 11 attacks happened there was a lot of support in Middle Eastern nations for the United States, this is a fact.
But by invading these countries and killing INNOCENT people, that support was gone.
Think of it this way. Imaging if a group of Kiwis decided to set off bombs in Tokyo, killing 10 thousand people on their way to work. 99% of Aussies would feel sorry for the Japanese and do the whole money raising thing in support.
Now, imagine the Japanese respond to this bombing by invading Australia, dropping bombs on our schools, hospitals and houses! How many Aussies are going to be supporting Japan now? NOBODY! In fact, most of us would join the fight against them.
99.999999999% of immigrants of Muslim persuasion are as innocent as you and I, they are fleeing an unlivable part of the world. It is not their fault and they don't deserve to be punished for the actions of their politicians and these terror cells.
They deserve our support and sympathy. |

My bad "1990", shows just how much attention to and how seriously O took the labor B/S.
Now we have labor spin doctors in power again and more terrorist arrests being made and Kevin747 now realises just how serious the threat of terrorism really is to our own home soil.
Where is the threat coming from????
In fear of being labelled all sorts of derogeratory names again...........
The threat is comingfrom immigrants from certain countries that have a certain religious following and belief with connections to terrorist org.a.n.i.s.a.tions. |

Labor it is in our "DNA" to create & provide jobs!
That is starting to sound like Bob Hawkes infamous "No Australian child will be living in poverty by 1996" line.
Nothing but more political B/S from our fantastic Labor party. |

| The rumour is that all proposed detours and other proposals put forward by the supermarket owner have been flatly rejected because they would adversely affect the investment properties and their access of one federal treasurer. |

MORE than 80 workers will be looking for jobs next month when Farmer Joe's, one of Brisbane's best known businesses, closes its doors for good.
Kedron fruit and vegetable shop Farmer Joe's has fallen victim to progress, making way for the State Government's $333 million inner-northern busway.
Co-owner David Vedelago said construction on the busway would "terminally impact" the business, with the shop's carpark on busy Gympie Rd to be resumed and access for delivery trucks restricted for at least nine months.
Mr Vedelago said he, along with his cousins Julian and Christiaan, had spent the past three years exploring options allowing them to either retain the premises or relocate.
"We've been fighting and putting our best case forward but unfortunately we've got to the point where there are no other options," he said. "Unfortunately, requests for assistance from Main Roads and the State Government have been responded to in a timeframe and manner which has prevented keeping Farmer Joe's open for business."
Mr Vedelago said that was despite lengthy discussions with the Department of Main Roads on what steps could be taken to secure Farmer Joe's future.
He said attempts to relocate the business failed when suitable alternative premises could not be found.
Mr Vedelago said it was ironic the closure would occur at a time when the business was going from strength to strength.
"Our business has never been as successful as it is now," he said.
"Every year I've been in the store we've always shown growth."
Mr Vedelago said he and his cousins were trying to assist more than 80 staff to find new employment.
"That's been the toughest part about it," he said.
"I've got one particular guy whose wife, himself and his only son work here. It's devastating for them. I look at these guys and they've devoted so much time and energy into making this business what it is."
Staff were given the bad news by owners and Infrastructure Minister . |

| Nye, I think the law being proposed is that personal supply is legal, but amounts deemed to be supply are illegal ie growing for own recreational use is OK, but growing to sell it is prohibited. |

I'll just pull you up on the 'legalisation of marijuana'. That is not accurate, the debate is the 'decriminalisation of marijuana'. It would still be illegal, but not a criminal offence, like parking in a handicapped space.
Either way, fk the druggos! :P |

The issue is that the national conference will spend a great chunk of time on this issue. Like the republic issue, it should be put on the backburner to be discussed after the more important issues are addressed
Having said that, by the Labor party addressing the legalization of marijuana and same sex marriage,it will alienate a percentage of the electorate, and the way the Qld govt is stinking at the moment, Kr.uddy doesnt need to give more people reason to hate him in this state. |

It could be a smart move at a smart time. Same sex marriage is a big topic and if Australia takes this stance, we could get a flood of gay tourism/pink dollars into the country.
BTW, why is it even an issue? It used to be frowned aopn to marry someone of a different religion, colour, race, nationality, maybe even eye colour and favourite flavour of ice cream! This is the last 'marriage taboo' and the sooner the dumb fks in charge realise how stupid it is, the better.
If one of my boys is gay I want to know that they are free to live as they desire, including them having the right to get married! What problem is it of anyone elses? |
