| jeez I look at the message board and theres not one thread I can be bothered looking at except this one....hopefully cricket will take over again next week....soccer in Europe has the right attitude to racism...teams found guilty of racism, be it players or fans, play the next games behind closed doors...with a huge fine. Coloured players were often subjected to the same monkey taunts..which are offensive no matter what mip thinks, and the guilty teams are punished. | Foolish stuff mip... and you've been right at the forefront - as you say, inflammatory. I guess you've conveniently forgotten the series in India, at Mumbai et al - where Bhajji was abusive towards Symonds. The ICC didn't tho': prior to this series ever happening both captains/teams were told by the ICC that no racism was to occur, or it would be dealt with harshly. Specifically, the term 'monkey' was NOT to be used. And on it being 'racist'... dare you to go into a black neighborhood & use it. As Symonds explained to Bhajji post the Mumbai game, it's used to denigrate someone as being 'less-than-human'. Must say ol' chap... a tad disappointed. |
