Re:Good Budget
Nev,
if you want to improve roads in your region, the answer is simple
Employ an ex Labor Minister as a lobbyist for a small "cough" fee, the lobbyist makes "representations" to the minister, and the roads will be fixed before you know it.

Re:Good Budget
With QLD's road toll taking a massive hike Premier Botox announces a 60 million dollar improvement for the Brisbane Exhibition Ground. No mention of improving the roads in QLD or better educating younger drivers or increasing the number of police on the roads or fixing the hospitals and ambulances or Nursing issues.

Good to se the Labor Gov of QLD has its priorities in order. The way the road toll is climbing there won't be any QLDers left to go to the Eca.

Re:Good Budget
My weekend is now officially in ruins. Not only have England lost the cricket, I now read this
------------------------- ------
NASHVILLE, Tennessee - Jimmy Bedford, the slender and silver-haired former master distiller of the Jack Daniel's whiskey during a 40-year career with the company, died Friday. He was 69.

His body was found outside a barn at his farm in Lynchburg, apparently the victim of a heart attack, company officials said.

Bedford retired in March 2008 after spending 20 years as the master distiller supervising the entire operation at the 143-year-old distillery in Lynchburg, the oldest registered one in the United States. Among his duties was tasting the whiskey before it was sent to retailers.
------------------------

Holy sh1t, tasting JD before it was sent to retailers. Where can I get a job like that.

Re:Good Budget
SYDNEY, Aug 9 (Reuters) - Australian cricket fans have claimed responsibility for setting off a fire alarm that forced England's players to evacuate their Leeds hotel in the early morning hours before the fourth Ashes test.

British media had reported the alarm was set off by a female guest at the hotel who was trying to dry her underwear but The Fanatics, Australia's answer to England's Barmy Army, have claimed that one of their supporters was actually responsible.

"Yes it was one of our guys who did it as a bit of a prank," the head of The Fanatics, Warren Livingston, told the Sunday Telegraph.

"At first I thought, 'good on ya', we're just doing our bit for Australia. But I can't condone this sort of thing. I don't want any trouble.

"We've all had a big laugh and it might have made a difference to the way they batted."

England's players were woken from their sleep at about 0400 GMT on Friday due to the alarm and the players spent about 20 minutes standing on the street until fire officials gave them permission to return to their rooms.

Later that day, England made a disastrous start to the match, collapsing to be all out for 102 despite winning the toss and batting first. (Reporting by Julian Linden; Editing by Peter Rutherford. To query or comment on this story email sportsfeedback@thomsonreu ters.com)

No excuse for the batting performance against a much improved bowling attack.

Re:Good Budget
Sex and politics have officially come together, with the Australian Sex Party obtaining approval from the Australian Electoral Commission for registration as a political party.

The commission, which announced the registration on its website, said it had received several objections.

The party's convenor and likely future candidate Fiona Patten said the approval was evidence the commission cared about free speech "and the democratic rights of various groups in the community".

"One of the reasons for establishing the party was to provide a positive platform for sexual issues amongst the negative notions of sex that most politicians and political parties have," she said in a statement on Saturday.

"The fact that the AEC spent so much time considering the word `sex' further exhibits our need for honest and open discussion about sexual matters - be they censorship, education, health or discrimination ones."
------------------------- -----------------------

Good name for this political party as it wont be long before they are f-ck-d.

Investigators in Florida say a man accused of downloading child pornography is blaming his cat.

Keith Griffin is charged with 10 counts of possession of child pornography after detectives found more than 1,000 images on his home computer.

According to a sheriff's report on Friday, Griffin told investigators that his cat jumped on the computer keyboard while he was downloading music. He said he had left the room and found "strange things" on his computer when he returned.

Griffin is being held on $US250,000 ($A297,830) bond in the Martin County jail. It is unclear if he has an lawyer.

Amazing how Kevin 747's wife with a stomach pain could get a bed at Cairns base hospital when locals are being turned away. Some are being sent to Mackay but if you are a politicians wife you get special treatment.

Re:Good Budget
A group of children became upset after discovering a body they played with for 11 days in a creek north of Auckland was a woman and not a crocodile.

Police today hope to discover the identity of the decomposing body reported on Wednesday in the creek near the Stanmore Bay Leisure Centre in Whangaparaoa, 40km north of Auckland.

They say it is too early to tell if it is the body of Alanah Brough, 39, who went missing in the area in January.

Hibiscus Coast Raiders Rugby League Club vice-president Merv Heka said children playing for the club first found the remains at a gala day on July 25.

But it was not until a parent tried to fish the remains out on Wednesday that anyone suspected it was a human.

"Three or four of these kids are quite traumatised," Mr Heka told The New Zealand Herald.

A neighbour said he saw about 10 boys prodding the body with sticks.

One of them said "Mister, I think we've found a crocodile in the creek", but he thought it might have been an old tree trunk.

"They were in there playing with it for about two weeks," he told the Herald.

Detective Inspector Bruce Scott said the results of the post-mortem examination and identification were likely to be known this morning.

He said it was possible the remains were those of mother-of-two Alanah Brough, 39, who went missing in the area on January 30.

"We believe it's a female's body so there is that possibility," he said.
