Re:Saving Test Cricket Reply to this message
This is of little imporatnce. This rating changes most frequently...!!!
What is important are the enduring records that will never be overtaken again and will stand as a testament to India's superiority with the willow and ball..!!!! Sachin, Dravid, Sunil

Re:Saving Test Cricket Reply to this message
Sub-continental cricket is a different game - they generally don't play to win, they play for records...

Look at this game for a good example

Re:Saving Test Cricket Reply to this message
there was a good article on cricinfo by an indian journalist
India's home test matches have produced 11 draws out of 24 tests over the last 3 years, which is more than the number of drawn tests in the same time in home tests in Australia, Sth Africa and SL.
The BCCI are rigging pitches to get 5 day test matches and more TV rights revenue.

Re:Saving Test Cricket Reply to this message
ban Sri Lanka v India test matches... they create barren, flat, concrete pitches for these matches which basically turn into batting marathons...

it's pointless cricket... have a look at the 2nd test... the Indians 0/182 after 30 odd overs of a test match!!!

Agreed but whats this talk i hear about the MCC upgrading and renaming Lords with a sponsors name?
Thats a mooted move that will surely ruffle the purists.

Was front page headlines in The Times this week. Has been strenuously denied
------------------------
here's an idea.
If it's clear that a Test Match will not sell out, get the competing players to go around local schools offering free tickets.

Re:Saving Test Cricket Reply to this message
Get rid of 4 day domestic games so that a result will ensue. That is just a start.

You only have to look at this QLD v W/I match draw. 617 by the mighty Q/landers and the W/I salvage a draw. But if it was a 5 day game then the Q/landers would certainly have the goodies.
