No, Murdoch surrended them twice too.
But I'm sure Nasser Hussein would be stoked to know he never lost the Ashes! |

Technically, he is correct Nye
Ponting is the only Australian to twice captain the Australians to lose a series to the English and surrender the Ashes.
When Borders team lost in 86-7, Poms held the Ashes already, so Border didnt "lose" the Ashes |

Pretty impressive too, that he's the ONLY captain to have lost the Ashes twice.
---
??? Might want to fire your fact checker there camp-one. Border lost them twice, Murdoch and McDonnell each lost the Ashes 3 times! And I haven't mentioned I.Johnson or any of the English skippers that have lost multiple series either.
Ponting and Armstrong remain the only skippers to clean a 5 test Ashes series 5-0 though. Oh, and Ponting has led his side to 34 wins, 3 losses and 1 NR in 38 ODI games in MAJOR tournaments (World Cups and Champions Trophies) and has never lost a World Cup match as skipper.
I think he's done ok! |

At least Waugh had the killer instinct; I don't think Ricky does, in any sense. Too much time spitting on his hands and chatting to his bowlers and not enough time concentrating on the game. |

But, let's look at the facts: he takes too long to place his field; he seems to change his mind between balls both in one-day and Tests and he is definitely a sore loser.
And his second innings scores have been unimpressive. (And I just don't like the guy.) Time for a change. Maybe Clarke could step up (once his back settles down)?
Pretty impressive too, that he's the ONLY captain to have lost the Ashes twice. Great going, Ricky, sore loser. |

| To all those people who keep quoting past results, they don't matter, what matters is your last result and that is Australia has lost the Ashes series, even if on paper they were the strongest team. Reputations on paper matter very little if you can't perform on the day and that is what it is all about ON THE DAY and this has been shown that on the day the team that applied itself got the result. 1 st test in question, England applied itself to not get out, Australia did not apply itself by bowling out the tail enders. You can't ask for anything else and if in the next Ahes series Australia win, that is what matters nothing else. |

| Hitting the target is fine, it is the catching that is the problem. |

Watson breaks his arm walking out to bat and Ponting comes in
Hit in the arm by an empty bottle of bundy thrown by an angry man in the Gabba crowd wearing a NQ Cowboys jersey. |

Easy as!
Or, Aus skittle the Windies for 25 inside the first hour of the Gabba. Watson breaks his arm walking out to bat and Ponting comes in - eases his way past Lara's 400 and declares the innings at 1-900, Ponting 512* and Katich 350* (38 extras).
We then roll them again and win by an innings and 850 runs.
To Perth where we bat first and Ponting chalks up an unbeaten 300 in Australia's 5 for 720. |

Well, the Windies C grade team .
Open with Watson, who will get booed by the Gabba faithful, break down in tears and get his traditional Gabba duck, and Punter knocks over a cool 270 not out.
Second test, Katich will be booed at the WACA - Sick note will think they are booing him and get out cheaply again. Ponting comes in to face the club cricketers and get another 270 no.
Only leaves a pair of centuries for the Boxing day test |

| A decent summer will see him pass Lara and move into 2nd on the all time list though. That'd be great if it could happen on home soil. |

Hahaha, we've got 3 tests? 250 a test, including one on the Gabba where recent scores of 200 have been enough for an innings win!
I don't like the skips chances! |

| If Ponting scores 750 runs in the test matches before New Years, then he will be the only batsman in test history to have scored 10000 runs in a chronological decade ie 2000-9 |

| And another thing for you whiners to whine about...the Great Babe Ruth struck out more times that he hit home runs...The Pittsburgh Steelers ruled the 70's...look how long it took to win another SuperBowl...The Cleveland Indians haven't won the pennant since 1949, but we still love them...You should support your team when they are in a slump... |

| No, if I wanted to be a ponce and laughable, I would boast that I had once played Sheffield Shield cricket or u-19 for Australia, or that I had taken my laptop to the match and was boasting about how good the women in the crowd looked . |
