Hughes wont be man of the series. It will be his opening partner. Katich will score 450+

Re:Australia Vs England Lion Reply to this message
Nev, think about it though. Any manual work, exercise etc is always tougher on the body after a break.

The Windies bowlers were rarely injured, and they all bowled well over 500 overs a year.

The Queen will be so embarrassed with the Poms performance in this ashes series she will repossess the OBE's she so flippantly handed out in the 2005 series and replace them with POQ's.

Re:Australia Vs England Lion Reply to this message
I would have to agree to some point as he is a legendary fast bowler. But some times fame can do strange things to ones opinions.

I am sure that performing under those circumstances would surely shorten the cricket life expectancy of the fast bowler though.

Re:Australia Vs England Lion Reply to this message
Hope so Nev. I remember Michael Holding saying he thought bowlers 'resting' was the reason there were so many injuries.

The Windies quicks would play Red Stripe Cup, County cricket and Sheffield Shield when they weren't on test duty. They would bowl almost non-stop all year round. Holding thinks that it kept the body used to the demands of fast bowling and in the right groove.

He could have a point.

Re:Australia Vs England Lion Reply to this message
Please MJ WTF happened to his bowling after he was rested here in Australia during the S/A tour and when he returned he was all over the place with his line and length.

I can not remember who it was that mentioned MJ needs to be bowled regularly to stay in form but that person was correct. You just have to look at the time he has had off and how he spraying the ball around the pitch. Give him a bit more time and he will find his line and length and have the batsmen doing a G Smith dance back to the dressing rooms.

Re:Australia Vs England Lion Reply to this message
Wimpy, I don't know if he WAS faking, I just mentioned that he has said in the past that he sometimes does, as a tactic.

Harmy was on the button with those bouncers, they would trouble a lot of batsmen. But Hughes can play the hook and pull shots, so maybe he just chose not to use them last night.

Re:Australia Vs England Lion Reply to this message
Hughes, Siddle, Hussey and Katich I think.

MJ has a lot of expectations on him right now, and England will have done their homework on him.

Clarke and Ponting are the most talented batsmen we have, but they are very up and down at the moment. Both WILL have a big score at some stage, but consistent runs will be tough because, like MJ, the Poms will be at them from the start.

Mind you, if Hughes and Katich do what I think they will, then Ponting and Clarke will have a real chance to capitalising against a tired attack and an older ball.

Re:Australia Vs England Lion Reply to this message
Well he did a pretty good job of faking a weakness in this game. Harmison is already mouthing off that he has the wood on him.

Re:Australia Vs England Lion Reply to this message
I'm so glad Harmlesson has said that the Poms should go for his ribs - domestic bowlers and the Safers have tried that since he came in.

I read an interview where Hughes said he sometimes likes to 'fake' a weakness to get the bowler bowling to his strengths. Come the first test, don't be surprised to see them pepper him with rib rattlers, and don't be surprised to see them head to the boundary!

No doubt he is a great off side player, but his pulling and hooking is pretty handy too.

Clarke and Punter are the same height (5'10"), but both are taller than Hughes - so that's 3 midgets Chucker.

Dave Warner hahahahahahahahahaha

Sorry, Cricket Australia only allows one midget to play for Australia at a time, and that is the captain. If you have issues with that, discuss it with Brad Hodge

Re:Australia Vs England Lion Reply to this message
Hughes
Katich
Warner
Thornley
Clarke
Henriques
Haddin
Hauritz
Lee
Bracken
Clark
Bollinger

That team would win easily, forget the rest of the usless states of Australia, could probably beat QLD in the footy too.

He is there because the selectors clearly felt they couldn't name a squad without a specialist spinner - even if we don't have one worth picking!

North, Katich, Clarke - that is your spin team. Between them they can give you 25 or 30 overs of half decent spin if required.
