Not looking good for Mr. Sicknote
For Watson to be considered for the first Test in Cardiff next week he must also offer the side some overs to help its balance, but this is highly unlikely after he was restricted to laps of the oval with the physiotherapist Alex Kountouris. While his fitness is improving to the point where he could bat this week, the Australians should allow their first-choice run-makers more fine-tuning during the four-day affair with the England Lions. |

Having Watson around the Blues potentially undermines the further development and advancement of players like Henriques and Steve Smith.
We just dont need him, plain and simple. |

Yes amazed he got to keep evryone.
must be some very clever accounting at NSW.
Maybe looking at the othr squads all released today there are some way overpaid state players.
NSW and VICS are helped big time by having so many players with CA contracts.
As a blue not banking on watson, how can you,at least he won't score a 100/200 for qld against you thats gotta hurt.
On the other hand NSW has some real promising batsmen, its just a thing of giving them time, look at khawajah.
How he didn't make the australia A squad i dunno, bailey, voges, white had miserable sasons with the bat. |

Perhaps NSW has a better sick pay scheme than Queensland.
Well good luck to Mister Sicknote anyway. |

Australian all-rounder Shane Watson has been named in the New South Wales squad for the 2009/10 season.
Watson, who is struggling with a knee problem ahead of Australia's Ashes series opener in England next week, has switched states from Queensland and is one of 10 NSW players contracted by Cricket Australia.
With many players likely to be on international duty the next Australian summer, NSW will again look to its younger players, who gained valuable 1st XI experience last season.
"Having 10 players contracted to Cricket Australia will test the squad's depth however I am delighted that we are still able to name such a talented contract list," Cricket NSW chief executive David Gilbert said.
Among the NSW players with Cricket Australia contracts are: Doug Bollinger, Nathan Bracken, Stuart Clark, Michael Clarke, Brad Haddin, Nathan Hauritz, Phillip Hughes, Simon Katich, Brett Lee and Watson.

Ten players listed - Haddin from ACT, Hauritz and Watson from Qld and Katich from WA.
