Suggest we park this one, Sven. After all, just how much credence should we give to someone who manges to get four factual errors into the space of one sentence.
I hear he's applied to the Guiness book of records on that one :] |

That's right, Einstein. Here is the relevant part:
"Because he has an England contract rather than one with Yorkshire, Vaughan has had to clear the smallprint of his departure with the ECB and was in contact with England managing director Hugh Morris over the weekend."

The colour of orange juice is red...
If you use blood oranges that is. |

"Still, he has chosen to continue the "Vaughan Circus" to the very end by travelling to Edgbaston to announce his retirement. Couldn't he have just sent a note?"
No, he wanted to give you the opportunity for a last Hurrah.
Besides, the point that TWP is trying to make is correct. Yorkshire did not sack Vaughan and even if they wanted to, it would not have been possible.
This is because they didn't hold Vuaghan's contract. He was an employee of the ECB.
This is not rocket-science, baby. This is such basic contract-law that you don't need to be a contract-lawyer to understand it. But then again, I'm talking about normal people here, Kipsy, not you you at all. So I'm not surprised that you came up with this particular topic and try to defend it to the death.
What's next Kipsy? How about a discussion about the colour of Orange Juice? I'm sure you could keep that discussion up for a few days, right? |

Hahahaha - You've got to be joking c3Po.
"Dropping" a player doesn't normally involve a "beatch fight" with the clubs' chief executive in the car park - does it? Nah, Vaughan sacked, whilst blunt, is more accurate.
They've had enough of him and have fulfilled their obligations (much to their own detriment) to the ECB.
Still, he has chosen to continue the "Vaughan Circus" to the very end by travelling to Edgbaston to announce his retirement. Couldn't he have just sent a note? |

Re:Yorkshire sack Vaughan (PREVIEW)
c3Po - The thread title is concise and to the point, it's mabo, it's the constitution, it's the vibe.
Besides that it would have been impossible to fit the following in the title space.
"Yorkshire tell Vaughan to take up ballet, cake decorating or needlepoint as you're just not cut out for playing cricket with the big boys and won't be selected to play for Yorkshire again. Now get out of our carpark and don't come back
-------------
How about
"Yorkshire drop Vaughan " |

Kipsy dear, how can Yorkshire sack Vaughan, when they're not his employers, i.e. they don't hold his contract?

We agreed with the ECB that we would give Michael every chance to be selected for the Ashes. When that didn't happen it opened up a lot of thought processes and he has discussed them with our director of cricket Martyn Moxon over the last week or so.
READ : "Listen, Michael, take up ballet or cake decorating will you - you're just not cut out for playing cricket and won't be selected to play for Yorkshire again."
He was omitted from Yorkshire's Twenty20 side against Derbyshire. "(Michael's)Plans were for Michael to play, but we decided that the hype wouldn't be in the team's best interests," said Regan.
The decision caused an Âaggravated exchange in the Headingley car park between Vaughan and the Yorkshire chief executive, Stewart Regan, but around the county it will be generally greeted with approval.
If he resigned from the captaincy in Âexhaustion, he now leaves cricket for good confused and a little embittered.
ÂAggravated exchange in the Headingley car park? Oh my, that will never do. |

| Vaughan will retire from all first-class cricket after Yorkshire turned down his request for a prolonged county farewell in one-day cricket this summer, fearing that it could become an unwelcome distraction. |
